Race 1. (15:29) Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum (Rs0ly) 1675m
1 Bonjoy (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a Jason Miller trained mare that is flying and is hard to beat here. Eye catching return here behind Deamber before going to Pinjarra where she got back to near last in the run but came with a strong finale to wear them down in a sharp display. Third up from a break, she should just about be at peak fitness. Like her.
4 Silver Back Jack (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a stablemate of Bonjoy that comes here off the back of a strong win last Wednesday over 1800m at Ascot when getting the sweet sit in transit and finished best to win well. Not sure he beats the stablemate but for mine, he is the only horse I can consider a serious threat given upside and in well after the claim.
Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for 3 Flash Ducati (Bet Now:ย $SP.00). Michael Lane trained gelding that resumed over 1400m at Ascot two weeks back where he paraded like he would need the run and ran accordingly when down the track behind Antique Miss but that said, he was only beaten just under three lengths. Good room for improvement, he’s a knockout hope.
Race 2. (16:04) Greenfields Lodge (Bm66+) 1675m
2 Villeins (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is better suited over further but he has a touch of quality about him for Team Williams. He resumes after a fab Winter/Spring prep, which ended with a fourth in the Kalgoorlie Cup where he had his chance and just raced a bit on the flat side. He can sprint well fresh and has trialled well enough leading in to say he can run a positive race here.
5 Gift Of The Heart (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a query at the trip but with a soft lead on the cards, he is in the mix for sure. Three weeks between runs since winning over 1400m at Ascot where he led throughout and showed good ticker in the straight to fend them off and win. If he leads and gets total control, he’ll be hard to get past.
3 Benji’s (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran in the Mount Barker Sprint last time where he just found them a bit sharp over 1300m but that said, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Supersession. Like him up in trip and has more upside than most. Dangerous for sure.
Race 3. (16:43) Boq Bunbury Hcp 1000m
Back to 1000m I am not 100% sold on but 1 Snippy Which (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a talented three year old that will get back and launch at them late. He gave them a start and a beating to win over 1200m at Ascot two weeks ago, producing a brilliant finale to score. He’ll likely be run off his legs but I think he should launch at them late.
2 Shell Bell (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is the 1000m horse in this race. She resumed at Ascot on New Years Day when leading and giving a solid kick but first up, condition just gave way late in the piece. Better for the run under the belt, should find the top and from there, prove hard to get past. Leading chance.
Back to 1000m I do like for 4 All Play (Bet Now:ย $SP.00). IMO they rode him too warm when racing two weeks back in the race won by Snippy Which, digging up to lead and tiring late. Back in trip and with a more patient steer, he can run a much improved race, and you may get a decent price.
Race 4. (17:23) Nixon Electrical Plate 1100m
1 Brazen Bid (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is on top for me in an open 2YO race. He debuted with a strong win at Pinjarra before racing at Ascot two weeks ago when dragged back from the wide gate but worked home with real purpose late in the piece behind Glasgow Lass. Draws better to settle much closer in the run and still be effective at the end. Hard to beat.
3 Elite Missile (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a key threat. Stephen Miller trained juvenile that debuted at Ascot two weeks back behind Glasgow Lass. He was dragged back from the wide gate and while he was never a threat, he did make up solid headway and caught the eye in a nice debut. Can settle much closer in the run and with natural improvement, rates highly.
7 The Top Bar (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is an Adam Durrant trained juvenile that is on debut. He is bred to be a nice horse, but perhaps with time and more ground, so it will be interesting to see how he goes at 1100m. Likely will get back in the run but I think off the trials, he should be strong at the end.
Race 5. (18:05) Silverado Bunbury (Bm72+) 1675m
8 Flower In The Wind… (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) surely the rub of the green will go her way eventually. She should have won two weeks ago over 1800m at Ascot, but she got badly held up behind the leaders and didn’t get clear until it was too late, finishing just over a length away from Autumn Rebel. If the breaks go her way and she gets clear air at the right time, she’ll be extremely hard to hold out.
7 Autumn Rebel (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is absolutely flying this three year old. He has won three on the bounce, the latest being a fortnight back at Ascot when surging hard late from off the speed to score. Not sure he has much upside but for mine, he only has to hold his form to be around the mark and take this out.
3 Utgard Loki (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is capable with his best. Just not sure what to make of the first up run behind Material Witness two weeks back, sitting near the speed and failed to come, finishing over ten lengths away from the winner. His best sees him go awfully close. Just not sure where he is at but I am not dismissing him.
Race 6. (18:42) Furphy (Rs1mw) 1000m
2 Lexington City (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) looks ready to win for Simon Miller. He ran two weeks ago at Ascot where he was tardy away but still managed to lob 1/1 and was there to win in the straight. Just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Rock This Town. He was a few weeks between runs so with room for improvement, he rates highly.
5 Ruler Rocket (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has a great second up record so he commands respect. He resumed in the race mentioned above where he kept finding the line pretty well but was never really threatening when fifth, beaten a length. Good room for improvement, kind map…hard to beat.
4 Madam Kisses (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is dangerous if the inside gate can be used to advantage. She got a fair way out of her ground in the Rock This Town race from two weeks back at Ascot. She did manage to get splits and found the line with real purpose late in the piece in a strong effort. If she can settle closer, she’ll be around the mark.
Race 7. (19:17) Tabtouch - Better Your Bet (Bm66+) 1200m
Back to 1200m I am very interested in when it comes to 5 Antique Miss (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) but she is a Michael Grantham mare that is absolutely flying at the moment. She gave them a start and a beating to win over 1400m at Ascot two weeks ago, letting down with purpose to win and win well. Back in trip, potentially, is a negative, but she’s a winner, a line finder, and is in well after the claim.
2 Trade War (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is suited back up in trip for Michael Lane. He ran in the Esprit Garcon race from just over three weeks ago at Pinjarra where he was tucked away behind the speed with cover before angling clear and finished off strong when beaten a lip by Esprit Garcon. Hard to knock the way he’s racing so he commands respect.
4 Prize Pursuit (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a Jason Miller trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Sep 10 at Kalgoorlie when down the track behind Men’s Club, an end of prep run. Been given a good break, he can sprint well fresh and has looked to trial up really well in readiness for his return.
Race 8. (19:54) Cyril Flower Stakes 1200m
9 Live To Tell (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a very good filly for Simon Miller that makes her long awaited return to the track. She hasn’t raced since the Karrakatta last year where she was outstanding in defeat behind Super Smink but was held into second. First up at 1200m tells me there is clear intent, potentially with an eye towards The Quokka and looking to get a slot, so I say she’s here to play and make a statement.
4 Real Danger (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is two weeks between runs for Dan Morton since taking out the Scenic Blast at Ascot. She sat on speed and was trucking before being clicked up and despite being out of petrol tickets late, she had enough in hand to score. Good test here against a potential star, Live To Tell, but hard fit, she’ll look the winner at some stage.
2 Ghost Who Walks (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is dangerous if he can be within range. He ran in the Scenic Blast two weeks back where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a threat, he did make up solid headway in a strong effort. Can settle closer and still be effective at the end. Knockout hope.
Race 9. (20:30) Bunbury Cup On Sat 9Th March (Rs1mw) 1400m
3 Exceltrain (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has found winning form and I think he can go on with it. Admittedly, the win came at Mount Barker but he got into a dream spot under Chris Parnham and in a driving finish, class came to the fore in winning. He is generally around the mark and off a win, his confidence should be up and he strikes a winnable race.
7 Playing Rio (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) took a while to get a win on the board but as we see so often, once they find a win, they start a picket fence and that is what this horse has done. Won the maiden and backed it up with a sharp win at Pinjarra after sitting on speed. Good test here in a solid Saturday metro race but confident he measures up and runs well.
9 El Patron (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has run well at the track/distance previously and his best is good enough to give this a shake. He ran over the mile at Belmont last time where he did work in the run to land on speed and that early burn just told late in the piece, tiring to finish fourth behind Prophet And Power. Think back in trip is ideal and with a more economical run in transit, he can threaten.
