10/12/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Canterbury

5 Miss Delia (Bet Now: $2.25) will be fence in run and suited up in trip so she gets the nod. I thought there was plenty of merit in her run at Wyong. Was back off a very moderate speed but worked to the line when third to Bedford Square. Gate one and up to 1900m, she appeals.

10 Son Of Emperor (Bet Now: $2.35) looks the most progressive of this lot. David Payne trained three year old that threw away the race last start at Gosford when wanting to lay in under pressure. Gets a jockey upgrade with Bowman taking over and I suspect they’ll be positive from the wide gate.

Fitter and up to 1900m are two big ticks for 1 Contradeel (Bet Now: $12.00). Was six weeks between runs when racing over 1500m at Hawkesbury where he didn’t seem happy on the track but stayed on and was sound in defeat. Not sure he wins, but a must for multiples.

6 Party For One (Bet Now: $4.60) looks to have talent. Resumed here when back in the run and given the pattern of the night, she was pretty much no chance, but liked the way she finished off. Hard to beat if she can sit closer in the run.

7 Ultra (Bet Now: $3.50) has a tricky draw to overcome but she is bursting to win her maiden. Ran in a 1200m maiden at Gosford last time when on speed and she was hailed as the winner but was nailed on the peg by a handy one, Rejoiced. If she can get near the front without spending too many petrol tickets, she’ll take beating.

3 Minouche (Bet Now: $11.00) is a daughter of Written Tycoon for James Cummings that is on debut. She has had four trials to get ready for start one, two of those being this prep, and she has looked to move well each time. In the right camp to be a threat on debut here.

Looks a race in two but I’m with 3 Pizarro (Bet Now: $2.25). He was very good on debut at Hawkesbury when back and wide but closed off strongly when second to Clemenceau, who looks a good thing later in the night at The Valley so I think that form stands up here and maps super.

1 Broken Hill (Bet Now: $2.35) is a Team Hawkes trained colt that is having start two after debuting here two weeks ago. Led most of the way but just felt the pinch late when a narrow third to Rebel Shadow. Form out of that wasn’t exactly franked on Wednesday so that’s a concern, but he looks to have talent.

9 Lovelier (Bet Now: $14.00) is a filly for Chris Waller that ran fifth in the Rebel Shadow race mentioned above. She was on speed throughout and tried quite hard but just couldn’t quite see it out. Not sure she’s good enough to win, but I’d definitely include her in multiples.

6 Microna (Bet Now: $10.00) each way. This gelding is an honest customer that puts himself on speed and tries hard. That was the case at Warwick Farm last Wednesday and just felt the pinch the final furlong but was far from disgraced in defeat. Should find the front here and only run well.

5 Made By Khan (Bet Now: $3.10) is third up here and has upside to come. Adam Duggan trained gelding that was too sharp for them at Newcastle last time in what was a weaker race compared to this. But, he looks to have talent, has upside to come and finds a winnable race.

7 Dream Maiden (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Jason Coyle galloper that had a decent run of outs but that changed here two weeks back, getting the suck run behind the speed and finishing best to get the job done. Gets down in the weights and is in form, so he’s in with a shout.

2 Conscript (Bet Now: $2.80) gets the nod. Ryan/Alexiou trained gelding that toughed it out best to win over 1200m at Gosford, just getting the better of Crosscube, who ran well on Wednesday at Warwick Farm. Back to 1100m I love and from the pole, he’ll lead and take beating.

8 Almighty Rising (Bet Now: $4.00) has a good record at Canterbury and that is his saving grace because he was pretty plain fresh at Gosford I thought after seemingly getting every chance on speed. Better for the run, his best is clearly good to be around the mark.

7 Damaged (Bet Now: $10.00) has returned in good order for Richard Litt. Wasn’t too bad fresh at Randwick when on speed. Then went to Gosford when ridden with a sit and finding the line strongly behind Frostin’. Hard fit now third up from a break and is in with a shout.

4 Miss Einstein (Bet Now: $2.60) is getting towards last chance territory but the big tick for her here is gate one. Both runs this time in have come over 1250m, the latest being two weeks ago when a narrow closing second to Snippy Fox. Gets to a more suitable trip and from gate one, she’ll take beating.

2 Heza Gentleman (Bet Now: $2.60) is absolutely flying this time in for the Kearney camp, winning two on the bounce, each time being this track/distance. It’s a good guide to follow horses that thrive at these night meetings and this guy fits the bill.

6 Monegal (Bet Now: $8.00) is a proven Saturday metro performer so a win here wouldn’t entirely shock with her. Ran at Kembla Grange on Gong Day when off the speed and didn’t stop chasing when fourth to Dynamic Impact. Great record at Canterbury and if she can find fence in run, she’ll be dangerous.

9 Sneaky Paige (Bet Now: $5.00) looks above average. Might have had the pattern in her corner at Canterbury last time but even allowing for that, she was an impressive winner and dominant in the run to the line. Good test for her here, but a win and she could earn herself a throw at the stumps for the Magic Millions.

4 Miss Jay Fox (Bet Now: $4.00) is a safe option. She’ll get run of the race stuff from the good draw and brings A1 form, with her resumption being at Kembla when fourth to Dragonstone, who looks a real talent. Rises big time in weight but does drop significantly in class, so she’s hard to beat.

8 Telluride (Bet Now: $8.00) is a James Cummings trained filly that resumes. The stable isn’t afraid to test their younger gallopers against seasoned campaigners and they’ve had success doing that. This girl hasn’t raced since the Blue Diamond Prelude when outclassed behind stablemate Arcaded. Trials leading in have been sound and maps okay from the draw.

7 Miracle Day (Bet Now: $2.50) gets the nod in the get out. Kris Lees trained gelding that is looking to make it three on the bounce. Heavy odds on pop at Newcastle last time and was never really in any trouble, cruising to a three length win. Good test for him here, but I think he’s up to it.

14 Marnix (Bet Now: $6.50) will be dangerous if he’s within range on the turn. That will be the query with him because he got a fair way out of his ground last time out at Gosford but loved the way he found the line when a close up third to Conscript. He’ll be strong at the end, provided he’s not too far back.

11 Peregrination (Bet Now: $5.50) will appreciate a firmer deck. The track was bottomless when he resumed here two weeks back and he struggled to pick his feet up behind Bacchanalia, but battled on okay for fourth. Gets right down in the weights after the claim and maps well.

BEST BET: Race Six Number 4 Miss Einstein

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 5 Miss Delia

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 6 Microna
