1/4/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Oakbank, Easter Monday races

5 Episodic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Clarken/O’Shea trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Oct 21 at Morphettville over the mile when back and closing off with purpose but had to settle for another placing, this time a second to stablemate Superior Sam. Has trialled up well here leading in and will be strong at the end.

1 Talkin’Italian (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a David Jolly trained gelding that is first up and certainly capable. He last raced over 1000m at Murray Bridge and was solid in defeat behind ahandy horse from the Freedman team. Has jumped out well enough to my eye and this isn’t a deep race.

10 Koyu Beach (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a definite winning hope. Richards/Moyle trains this daughter of Invader, who debuted at Murray Bridge over 1000m where she got off the speed and kept finding the line in a really good effort behind Toi Et Moi. Drawn out, but should get cover and be strong at the end.

5 On The Scent (Bet Now:  $SP.00) took a little while to find a win, but now that he has, he can go on with it. He went to the mile at Murray Bridge last time when wide no cover throughout and was there to be beaten but he found under pressure, fended them off and was too good in a very good effort. Off that, 1900m here is no issue and does get a big jockey upgrade.

6 Solar Mist (Bet Now:  $SP.00) needs to do something here if they are thinking he could be a Derby horse. He ran over the mile at Morphettville last start where he was wide no cover throughout and that hard run just told late in the piece but he was still quite solid in defeat when fourth to Under The Cone. He’s racing as if 1900m suits and gets a much better run in transit.

10 Kemi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had 28 chances to break his maiden…which says it all really. But, he was good in defeat at Clare last start over 1800m, getting back and working home well enough without threatening. Not sure I could back him to win but a must for wider multiples.

11 Opportune Chance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. This mare ran over 1100m at Clare where she chased a tearaway leader and kept finding the line in a very good effort when a narrow second to Laila’s A Gem. The rise to 1400m should be fine, the depth here isn’t deep and she should be strong at the end.

9 Inagurate (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have come back in really good order for Darren McLeod and should take beating here. She resumed over 1400m at Albury where she got a fair way out of her ground and spotted those in front a decent start but was good late in the piece. Fitter and with a more positive steer, she’ll take holding out.

2 Master Of Ceremony (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for exotics. He ran over 1100m in a Bordertown maiden last time where he got back to near last in the run and was never really a winning threat but I did like the way he found the line when a close up fifth. Up in trip, can settle closer, dangerous.

9 Sebring’s Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is sneaky flying for Garret Lynch and should take beating, hopefully at a decent price. She ran over the mile at Balaklava last time out where she got back to near last in the run and spotted those in front a decent start but I did like the way she finished her race off behind a handy one in Peacemaker. Good track/distance record and should be strong at the end.

4 The Grey King (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t set the world on fire in two runs back from a spell but this a very weak race. He was on speed at Strathalbyn last time out and was on the plain side when down the track but this looks more his level and it’s not a race full of depth.

6 Sassy Angel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m. This mare resumed over 1200m at Clare where she settled last and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort behind Effortkat. Good upside to come and like the rise in trip. Dangerous and a key chance if she can settle closer.

8 Think Tank (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has eyes on the Derby but if indeed he is to head down that path, he’d want to be putting this field away. He ran over 2000m at Murray Bridge last time out where he got to near last and just spotted those in front too much head start but he kept finding the line and was very good in defeat behind Tembu Bay. Like the rise in trip, was a few weeks between runs and 1500m to 2000m. Better set up this time, keen.

1 Back In Action (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps back up in trip and can be a definite improver. He was 2200m back to 1950m when racing on the Parks track. He got back off the speed and stayed on well enough but seemingly had his chance behind Karaka Kiwi. He was then thrown in the deep end in the Mount Gambier and was far from disgraced. Back up in trip again and this isn’t a deep race, so he commands some level of respect.

4 Wolf Prince (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the quick back up for Grant Young after racing last Saturday at Morphettville where he did mid race work to find the front and he kept chipping away but just lacked change up speed behind Crimson Vine. Good track/distance record and the depth here is nowhere near as deep.

3 Li’l Hank (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. Jordan Frew trained gelding that was a few weeks between runs when racing over 1350m at Strathalbyn where he got a fair way out of his ground and did make up solid headway without threatening behind Final Chance. Better set up this time around and if he can settle closer, he’ll take holding out.

8 First Tosen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Peter Hardacre trained gelding that resumes and is capable with his best. He is first up, having not raced since Dec 30 at Morphettville when back and making up minor headway without being a winning threat behind Alainge. He does have talent when right and has trialled up really well leading in. Dangerous.

10 Rubini (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a definite winning chance. Richards/Moyle puts the polish on this guy, who ran just over two weeks ago on the Parks track at Morphettville when back in an on pace dominated affair but he found the line with purpose and was good in defeat behind Texan Windstorm. Maps to settle much closer and still be effective late.

5 Little Rich Boy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets the nod in the get out but it’s a no bet race. He ran over 1000m on the Parks track just over two weeks ago where he got back off the speed and just couldn’t get involved when finishing midfield behind Storyteller, beaten a couple of lengths. Has run well at Oakbank previously and this isn’t a deep race.

3 Thebigsosso (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He placed first up at Bordertown in a solid effort before going to the Parks track where he ran fourth to Storyteller, beaten just over a length in a solid effort. Hard fit now, kind map and in well after the claim, he appeals.

14 Utah Joe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and appeals as a key winning chance. He ran over 1050m at Balaklava last time out where he was wide no cover throughout and that hard run just told late in the piece behind Zufasta. Maps to get a much better run in transit and this isn’t a deep race.
