The Parks track at Morphettville is where SA metro racing heads to this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:19) The Fotobase Group (Bm62) 1000m
4 Super Sharp (Bet Now: $8.00) is in for a good prep. Macdonald/Gluyas trained three year old that resumed a few weeks ago over 1000m, a trip short of his best, but really liked the way he finished his race off without threatening behind Angel Like. Fitter, staying at 1000m is the knock, but will be very strong at the end.
7 Wicklow Lass (Bet Now: $7.00) should appreciate a firmer deck. Reckon there was a bit of give in the track for her when she resumed at Sandown and couldn’t fire in a forgive run behind La Danseuse Rouge. The debut win in the Autumn was strong so I am not penning her.
8 Rockstar Meggsy (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Jon O’Connor trained filly that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since the Autumn where she contested a couple of quality juvenile races and ran okay without really threatening. Given a break and comes here with both a trial and jumpout win under the belt, so watch the market.
Race 2. (12:52) Canadian Club (Rs0ly) 1300m
1 Deevine (Bet Now: $3.00) looks the most obvious. Ryan Balfour trained gelding that looked a moral when racing at the midweeks at Gawler last time and despite a few nervous moments early on in the straight, class came to the fore and he was miles too good. The depth here is similar and with the 3kg claim, gee he looks well placed.
8 East Indiaman (Bet Now: $4.20) hasn’t been far away in two runs back from a spell. Close up second fresh at Murray Bridge before going to Balaklava when close up in defeat behind Fight For Freedom, beaten just under two lengths. Two runs for the stable have been sound and overall, this race is thin.
5 Ready Or Bust (Bet Now: $9.00) is racing in super form for Nicole Irwin and no reaso why he can’t make it three on the bounce given this race, as a whole, is lacking any real depth. Tough on speed win two back at Mildura before proving that was no fluke when winning on balaklava Cup Day where he was there to be run down but found under pressure. Hard to beat I’d suggest.
Race 3. (13:27) Thomas Farms Mdn Plate 1300m
I’m with 2 Rock Dee Jay (Bet Now: $6.00). Henry Dwyer rarely misfires when he comes to SA and this guy brings solid form to take out this maiden. Resumed on testing ground at Bendigo and was okay late without threatening in awful conditions. Fitter, up to 1300m, firmer footing, he’ll take beating.
12 Pretty Reliable (Bet Now: $2.15) should love the rise to 1300m. She ran over 1100m three weeks ago on the course proper here where she was back in trip from the 1200m debut and stuck to the task really well late in the piece behind Nostyia, finishing third. Back up to 1300m, with a more patient steer, she can get into the winners list.
Back in trip I like for 11 Fizzy Bubbly (Bet Now: $26.00). She ran over 1700m at Gawler last time out when on speed but couldn’t finish it off and was on the plain side behind Al Ranchero. I reckon back to 1300m is a big tick and off the runs prior, she’s good enough to threaten.
Race 4. (14:02) Adl. Galvanising Indust.-Bm82 2400m
Siding with 2 Sous Les Nuages (Bet Now: $3.40). Matt Cumani trained gelding that has raced on the Pakenham Synthetic his past couple, the latest seeing him run second to Unique Artsit, and I think you could make a case to say that he wins with clear air. That horse went on to win at Caulfield two weeks ago, so the form reads very well and he gets Vorster to steer.
5 Muntham Missile (Bet Now: $5.00) is flying for Belinda O’Loughlin and no reason why she can’t win again. She was good in defeat two back at Sandown before racing on the course proper here when getting the suck run in behind. Just a matter of getting clear air and once she got it, away she went and she was dominant late. Only has to hold her form.
6 Hasta La Fiorente (Bet Now: $14.00) is one for multiples. They rode her more forward two weeks back on the course proper here and showed fight late to stick on well enough when third to dominant winner Muntham Missile. I reckon with a more conservative steer, you’ll see a better effort.
Race 5. (14:37) Aramis (Bm60) 1250m
1 Kong (Bet Now: $3.80) is bursting to win another race. Good late against the race shape two back behind Cool Magnum before backing up a week later where he was near the speed throughout and battled on strongly when third to Sixbysixtythree. Brings that here, he’ll take beating.
6 Commander Meroo (Bet Now: $6.50) is a lightly raced six year old is showing good promise. Three weeks between runs since breaking the maiden tag over 1300m here, coming with a well timed run under Pannell to wear down Imbibe in a good finish. He still looks raw and new, but has an engine under the hood. Hard to beat in a winnable race.
5 McCain (Bet Now: $26.00) hasn’t quite set the world on fire since joining Emma Hubbard from Patrick Payne, but his best is certainly good enough. He ran over 1200m on Balaklava Cup Day and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Improvident. Run prior behind Taunting was solid and that form reads well for a 60.
Race 6. (15:17) The Junction (Bm72) 1250m
2 Danaustar (Bet Now: $4.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to beat. He attempted to lead throughout at Sandown last time and gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite finish the job, just tiring late behind Sandy Prince. I actually like him back to 1200m, and on a firming Parks deck, on speed will be no disadvantage.
1 Sparkup (Bet Now: $5.00) has come back well. Closing second to Noname Lane two back over 1050m before stepping up to 1200m a fortnight back where he was just off the speed and stuck to the task well enough I thought behind Sixbysixtythree. Hard fit now, he commands respect in a winnable race.
8 Outpost (Bet Now: $9.00) has returned in good order. He had good specking at odds when resuming two weeks ago on the course proper here where he was near the speed throughout and fought on really well, only getting bloused on the peg by Howl, a quality sprinter that is potentially Stakes class in the future. Any hint of improvement of that, he’ll take beating.
Race 7. (15:57) Furphy (Bm68) 1550m
8 Exalted Fire (Bet Now: $7.00) is getting towards peak fitness and has returned pretty well. He ran on the course proper here two weeks ago when back off the speed and was a bit one paced when the sprint went on but picked up and was good late behind Turfitt. Hard fit now, he appeals in a very winnable race.
4 Yuri Royale (Bet Now: $2.90) comes back to a very suitable race. Thrown in the deep end last time in the Balaklava Cup and I actually thought he was very good from the back behind Noname Lane. Back to benchmark grade and back miles in grade/depth, he’ll take beating.
Interesting runner here is 7 Wicked Addiction (Bet Now: $8.00). He did a good job during the Darwin Carnival before going to Murray Bridge several weeks back where he led at a crawl over the mile and battled on well enough in defeat when third to Yuri Royale. Better set up this time around so I think he can give cheek.
Race 8. (16:37) Grand Syn-Join Team Grand-Bm86 1400m
I’m with 10 Lake’s Folly (Bet Now: $5.00). He didn’t have the best of set ups leading into the Balaklava Cup last time but he was far from disgraced behind Noname Lane, working home well without threatening. Back to 1400m I find interesting but is right down in the weights and can settle closer in the run.
11 Wings Of Pastrami (Bet Now: $8.50) is flying and confident she can take this out. Real eye catcher late fresh over 1250m behind Montign. Then stepped up to 1300m three weeks ago and again was good from the back when second to dominant winner Hidden Legend. Hard fit and up to 1400m, it all points to her, especially if she can settle closer in the run.
Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 12 Perfect Route (Bet Now: $34.00). Mick Huxtable trained gelding that resumed over 1200m two weeks back where he was near last in the run and while he was never a winning factor given the race shape, I liked the way he found the line late behind Sixbysixtythree. Is a second up winner and the extra 200m is ideal. Knockout hope.
Race 9. (17:17) Mrald Family (Bm60) 1400m
4 Stadium Of Light (Bet Now: $2.25) is a three start maiden but he has shown enough to suggest he is metro class. He ran over 1400m at Murray Bridge a few weeks ago where he was one paced when the sprint went on but he closed off well enough behind the in form Headphones. That form reads well for this.
6 Eminencia (Bet Now: $7.00) is a key threat. Reckon they rode her too warm two weeks ago on the course here two weeks ago and I reckon it took something away from her finale, tiring late behind Turfitt. Draws to get a lovely run in transit, and with a bunny to chase, she’ll be more effective.
11 Smart Charge (Bet Now: $14.00) can mix her form but she is a last start win and hoping she can hold it. That win came just under two weeks ago at Mindarie-Halidon when back before coming with a well timed run under Hurdle to score. If she’s within range on the turn, she’ll be dangerous late.
Race 10. (17:55) Racing Carnival 8/10-5/11-Bm68 1000m
6 El Salto (Bet Now: $4.00) has shown a liking for heavy ground in recent times, but he is quite capable on top of the ground. He ran over 1100m at Bendigo last time where he absolutely trucked in the run and looked the winner when the button was pushed, but he was nabbed late. Gate one, back to 1000m, hard to beat with clear air.
7 Point Blaze (Bet Now: $4.80) is a talented mare for Shayne Cahill that resumes. Her best form is over further but with these 1000m sprint races on the Parks track, they can fly in front and it can set up for a backmarker, which fits this mare. Her trial was good and she does have class. Market will tell you if she’s ready.
4 Magic Max (Bet Now: $8.50) is a big improver here. I was keen on him two weeks back on the course proper here but he failed to fire a shot and was very plain late behind Howl, but I thought the track was a bit too wet for him. Firmer deck here, good tempo in front, he can run a much improved race.
