Queensland Derby Information

The Queensland Derby is a Group l staying race and is the feature staying event of the Brisbane Winter Carnival. It will be held at Eagle Farm racecourse each year over 2400m and is a highlight of the Carnival.

The race is at Group l level and boasts a total prize pool of $600,000 and is at set weights for three year olds.

The 2020 Queensland Derby will be run on Saturday the 6th of June, 2020 at Eagle Farm racecourse.

The Queensland Derby is well placed for the three year olds if they follow the traditional path through the lead ups, and it’s a month after the South Australian Derby (2500m).

Given it’s a short run to the first turn, inside gates are an advantage. Over the last 30 years, Horses drawn five or closer have won on 14 occasions.
