Nathan Tinkler appears set to retain an interest in racing, albeit on a much smaller scale.
The remainder of the embattled businessman’s racing stock was set to go to auction at the National Racehorse Sale at the Gold Coast on Friday as part of Patinack Farm’s reduction sale.
But Magic Millions confirmed on Wednesday that 22 of Patinack’s horses had been withdrawn from the catalogue.
“Representatives from Patinack Farm at the sale assure us that the remainder of the catalogued racehorses will go under the hammer,” Magic Millions managing director Vin Cox said.
Among the Patinack horses withdrawn are several gallopers set to line up in Group races at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
They include Group One JJ Atkins hopeful Hooked, the promising Peron in the Group Two Dane Ripper Stakes and stayers Shamardashing and Saint Encosta in the Brisbane Cup.
Tremec, a dual stakes winner for Patinack over the Sydney autumn carnival, has also been withdrawn from the sale.
It’s not the first time Tinkler has withdrawn large numbers of a Patinack Farm draft on the eve of a major sale.
“I have already banned Nathan Tinkler from @inglis_sales for large scale withdrawals. Buyers deserve better,” Inglis chief executive Mark Webster said on Twitter.
