Darren Condon will start work next week as the new chief executive officer of Racing Queensland.
Condon, who worked as the chief operating officer for the Brisbane Racing Club, will take up the role next Thursday – the first day of the new Australian racing season.
“Mr Condon is a racing administrator of the highest calibre and as Racing Queensland CEO he will use his ability and experience to take on one of the most important racing positions in Queensland,” Racing Minister Steve Dickson said.
Racing Queensland has been without a CEO since Jeremy Turner resigned in 2004.
Former RQ chairman Bob Bentley effectively filled that role until he left in 2012 following the Queensland state election.
The Racing Disiplinary Board, the first level appeals body, will now have an eight-member panel with former Supreme Court Judge Bill Carter as chairman, after Mr Dickson announced additional appointments which included former harness racing chief steward Daryl Kays.
