Fox Hunt, who found a chequered path when finishing seventh in last year’s Melbourne Cup, makes his debut for Godolphin in tonight’s Tabloid Trophy (2800m) at Meydan.
Formerly trained by Mark Johnston, Fox Hunt was one of two runners for the master horseman in last year’s race, with the Scot also having Irish St Leger joint winner Jukebox Jury in the race.
However, the son of Dubawi was arguably the hard luck story of the race, making up a heap of late ground to finish seventh, less than two and a half lengths from Dunaden.
Now trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, his rivals tonight include Dee Stakes winner and Melbourne Cup prospect Glen’s Diamond, one time Goodwood Cup runner up Electrolyser and the evergreen Nanton.
Fox Hunt has to carry 60kg but has the services of champion jockey Frankie Dettori.
The race, the last of six on the card, is to be run at 1am AEST.
