Vincent Ho and Hugh Bowman lit up Sha Tin on Sunday with matching trebles, showcasing their world-class riding talent ahead of the LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship (IJC) at Happy Valley on Wednesday.
Ho partnered The Boom Box, Vulcanus, and Healthy Healthy to victory, capping off a stellar week where he became only the 11th jockey in Hong Kong to achieve 600 career wins.
Reflecting on Healthy Healthy’s performance, Ho said, “He was actually a bit fresh, that’s why he pinged the gate and was up there on the speed… I think he really enjoyed the change of environment.”
Hugh Bowman bounced back from a challenging month with wins aboard Reliable Profit, Talents Ambition, and Dragon Joy.
“It had been a frustrating month, but… winning is good,” Bowman said.
Trainer Mark Newnham also claimed three wins, including My Wish in the Class 3 Salisbury Handicap.
Newnham is now second in the trainers’ championship and has set sights on the HK$13 million Hong Kong Classic Mile for My Wish.
With the IJC featuring stars like Ho, Bowman, Zac Purton, Ryan Moore, and Hollie Doyle, anticipation builds for an exciting showdown of elite jockeys.
