New Zealand’s Racing Integrity Unit has charged Victorian driver Lance Justice with breaches of harness racing’s drug rules following a positive test returned by his pacer Smoken Up after their win in the InterDominion Final at Alexandra Park in April.
Smoken Up’s urine sample tested positive to the drug dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO).
Justice has vehemently denied administering the drug to his horse and said he would fight the charges and give up the sport if he lost.
If he is found guilty of charges laid by the RIU it is likely Smoken Up will be disqualified from his InterDom win with the title to go to runner-up Themightyquinn.
The Judicial Control Authority is yet to decide on a date to hear the charges.
