FanDuel TV, the long-running horse racing channel that has brought the sport into American homes since 1999, is set to be gradually phased out over the next 20 months.
The development, first reported by the Paulick Report, was confirmed during a company-wide meeting on Friday, where staff were informed of the network’s future.
According to the report, FanDuel TV will continue to honour its existing broadcast commitments through this year’s Triple Crown series, including coverage of the Keeneland Spring Meet, before implementing significant workforce reductions.
Approximately 60 per cent of employees are expected to be made redundant in June, with remaining staff retained until November.
During the meeting, FanDuel CEO Amy Howe explained the decision was driven by broader strategic considerations.
“Continuation of the network did not align with the company’s long-term strategy.”
FanDuel TV, originally launched as the Television Games Network (TVG) in 1999, will continue to air racing content through to the end of 2027, although without in-studio production.
FanDuel’s general manager of racing Andrew Moore confirmed that live racing broadcasts would still be maintained.
“We will also fulfill any track production commitments we have through 2027. Importantly, even without in-studio production, FanDuel TV will continue to broadcast live racing from our track partners.”
