Freddie Head is considering a quick return to action for Moonlight Cloud after her “awesome” display in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on Sunday.
After narrowly failing to catch Black Caviar at Ascot, the four-year-old filly blitzed her rivals over six-and-a-half furlongs.
She may now return to the track this weekend for the Prix Jacques le Marois over a mile, with races like the Prix du Moulin – where she could meet Frankel – and the Prix de la Foret coming under consideration later in the season.
“She’s very well this morning and has come out of the race in very good form,” said Head.
“It was an awesome performance, she won brilliantly and had it won two furlongs out, she didn’t have a hard race.
“We may go for the Jacques le Marois, I’m not sure yet, we’ll just see how she is through the week.
“There’s obviously the Moulin in a few weeks but there’s not a lot for her at her best trip.
“I don’t think I’ll bring her back to England for the sprint she ran in last year (on Champions Day), we’ll stay in France for now.
“The Foret is her race, obviously, later in the season, but after that I don’t know.
“I’ll have a talk with Mr Strawbridge (owner) about whether she stays in training next year or goes to stud.
“The Breeders’ Cup Mile is an option but she’s never run on a turning track before so we’d have to consider that.
“She looked great and I’ve never had her in better shape.”
