French filly Helleborine has been all but ruled out of a crack at the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Trained by Criquette Head-Maarek for Khalid Abdullah, the filly was one of the winter favourites for the Classic after finishing second in the Prix Marcel Boussac.
However, she was beaten on her comeback in the Prix Imprudence and a trip to Newmarket in two weeks is now up in the air.
“I would think that the Guineas would be unlikely,” said Teddy Grimthorpe, Abdullah’s racing manager.
“It has not totally been closed but after the race I think Criquette felt she might need a bit more time.
“She came out of the race well, we’ll have a chat with the Prince and see what he wants to do,” he told At The Races.
