Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom is now odds-on to win the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot with his main rival Farhh to miss the race through injury.
The Queen Anne will be Animal Kingdom’s final start before he heads to Australia’s Arrowfield Stud which is the major shareholder in the American-trained horse.
Godolphin announced Farrh was lame after a workout on Saturday and would miss the Royal Ascot meeting but predicted he would be back later in the season.
Animal Kingdom continues to thrive in England ahead of Royal Ascot and pleased connections in a 1000m gallop last week described by Graham Motion’s assistant trainer Alice Clapham as “the best work he’s done since he’s been here”.
Arrowfield Stud proprietor John Messara bought a majority share in the 2011 Kentucky Derby winner from United States-based Team Valor before Animal Kingdom’s World Cup win.
Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation bought into the horse after his Dubai win with Messara now holding 50 per cent, Darley 29 per cent and Team Valor 21 per cent.
The horse will stand his first Australian season at $38,500 and will stand the northern hemisphere season at the sheikh’s Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky.
