Joining the now rapidly growing number (it’s almost like a class action suit) of countries wanting to ‘Be like Australia and Hong Kong’s racing industries’, Canada now has a relaunch date.
Woodbine is back operational 6 June. And across the country Assiniboa Downs in Winnipeg is going live a few weeks earlier.
Both will be without on track fans, which hurts them financially, but at least they are caring for their owners, trainers, jockeys, backstretch workers, farriers, race day workers, et al.
This 6 June date is 2 months later than the original planned date, but COVID-19 has a way of smashing original thought.
Woodbine will also open up harness racing the day after that too.
