About 5 weeks back we exclusively reported that NSW apprentice Crystal Conning had overcome a very serious injury and moved to the United States to pursue her race riding career.
At the time, she’d only had a handful of wins in Australia, but she was regarded by many who knew her and knew of her, as an outstanding horse person.
She had been an Australian representative as an eventer, so yeah she knew horses rather well.
Roll forward to today, and I’m delighted, both as a reporter and an Aussie, to reveal, the girl is wowing them now in the U.S.
Yesterday she guided the smart Nonhelma (Majestic Warrior-Restless Song) to an 8.5 lengths win at Thistle Downs.
That brought her up to 8 wins now at 7 different courses, including one at the fabled Churchill Downs.
Such is her growing fame, she was even invited by a trainer, to ride one at Woodbine, in Canada, but couldn’t get up there.
Soon, however, Crystal.
Australia should be mightily proud of how well she is flying the flag for Aussie riders over in the U.S.
