Race 1. (22:50) Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (Fillies' Group 2) 1207m
Tricky race for the babies. Leaning towards 8 Star Of Mystery (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for Charlie Appleby. She put together a couple of wins on the bounce prior to contesting the Duke Of Cambridge at Newmarket where she was a keen leader and I just reckon that early burn told late when second to Persian Dreamer. Hopefully she brings better racing manners, which should ensure she will be stronger at the end.
7 Relief Rally (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the runs on the board to command respect. Runner up in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, which ensured she was hard in the market in the Super Sprint at Newbury and it was justified as she was a dominant winner. If the 1200m is okay, she’s hard to beat.
1 Beautiful Diamond (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) creates interest. She has been kept on ice, having not raced since the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot when a brave third after doing work in the run. Fresh legs into this I find interesting but she certainly has the quality to measure up. Watch the market.
Race 2. (23:25) Harry Beeby Premier Yearling Stakes 1207m
I’m keen on 19 Ziggy’s Condor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). He is just over a month between runs since a dominant debut win at Pontefract where he was on speed and copped pressure but drew clear late and was dominant in the run to the line. The form out of that race has been strong, with three winners coming out of it, so with that in mind, good upside, he’ll take beating.
15 Persica (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect. He didn’t fire a shot on debut at Leicester but made amends big time at Salisbury last start, leading throughout and was never getting beat, winning by a space and running decent time. Repeats that effort here and he’ll certainly go close, especially drawn out so will get clear air from the outset.
13 Media Shooter (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can run top four without totally surprising. Bit on the plain side on debut at Hamilton before having a mini break and going to Wolverhampton where he appreciated a drop in depth and despite being challenged late, he had enough in hand and was too good. Harder here but has a good racing style and is drawn out, which I think will be the best part of the track.
Race 3. (00:00) Clipper Handicap 1584m
20 Terwada (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a lightly raced three year old that is showing really good promise for Ed Walker. He has won his past two, giving them an absolute spanking two back at Nottingham before proving that was no fluke with a dominant display at Newmarket when leading throughout. Good test here, but he’s on the up, good racing style and is in winning form.
5 Akhu Najla (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hard to beat for Roger Varian. He is several weeks between runs since racing down the straight at Ascot where he was held up out the back and came with a run but couldn’t quite get there when a close up fourth to Ghaly. That was his first run since September so with good room for improvement, he clearly rates highly.
6 Eilean Dubh (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate firmer footing. Son of Vadamos that comes through the Golden Mile at Goodwood where he struggled to pick his feet up on the very testing track so forgive and forget he went around behind Johan. Prior form was strong and does have a fab record at York so I think at a price, he is worth a look.
Race 4. (00:35) Yorkshire Oaks 2384m
9 Savethelastdance (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top in a pretty solid edition of the Yorkshire Oaks. Aidan O’Brien trains this filly, who has done little wrong in a five start career. Game second in the UK Oaks at Epsom before returning home to Curragh for the Irish Oaks where she was a strong winner from off the speed, seven weeks between runs. Month between runs leading into this which is fine and she’ll be stronger than most.
2 Free Wind (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look for Team Gosden. Market wanted her with confidence when racing in the Langtry at Goodwood last time but she hated the heavy ground and couldn’t pick her feet up the last 300m when fourth to Sumo Sam. Back on top of the ground is a big, big tick, and is a winner at the track. Rates highly.
1 Al Husn (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Roger Varian. She caused somewhat of a surprise in the Nassau at Goodwood but credit to her, she was near the speed throughout and there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and win. Has done little wrong in her ten start career and albeit a query at the trip, she has to be respected.
Race 5. (01:10) Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes 2384m
11 Sea Theme (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a very nice filly. Led and just felt the pinch late on debut at Salisbury before going to Doncaster off a five week freshen up and she was very impressive when ridden with a sit before going through her gears under Marquand and was impressive to the line in winning. Good test here against some likely types but I do feel she is a likely type herself.
3 Modaara (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the likely winner if she brings her Synthetic form to Turf. This filly is first up, having not raced since June 10 at Haydock when struggling in the Lester Piggott after being near the speed throughout. Her best is definitely good enough to take this out so I think watch the market and see what it does.
1 Moracana (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since the Duke Of Edinburgh at Royal Ascot when far from disgraced in defeat behind Okita Soushi after getting a reasonable run in transit. Proven stayer in the field with strong form lines around her so despite fresh legs and a weight impost, she is good enough to win.
Race 6. (01:45) Or8Wellness EBF Stallions Nursery 1408m
6 Expert Choice (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. This colt has been good in three career outings, winning impressively over 1500m at Beverley last time when near the speed throughout before being clicked up, moving clear and was quite dominant in the run to the line. Good test here against some likely types but he might well be a likely type himself.
5 Aragon Castle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. Andrew Balding trained colt that was a dominant winner at Epsom two back to break the maiden tag before going to Chester where they rode with a sit and tried hard to reel them in but couldn’t quite get there when second. He’ll be strong at the end and with a drag into the race, he’ll be effective I am sure.
4 Gushing Gold (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is still a maiden but I do think he has talent. This filly attempted to lead throughout last time at Kempton Park and did give a solid kick but was run down late, finishing third. She has that 1400m run under the belt, which should hold her in good stead for this. Knockout hope.
Race 7. (02:20) British EBF 40th Anniversary Fillies' Hcp 1408m
7 Unequal Love (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the one to beat in the get out. William Haggas trained filly that is looking to make it four wins on the bounce. Latest win came a couple of weeks ago at Haydock when tracking the speed and was bolting it seemed. Just a matter of Marquand pushing the button and once she did, away she went and she was strong. Has that 1400m run under the belt, she’ll take beating.
4 Sophia’s Starlight (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been up a while but is seemingly holding her form super. Game second on testing ground at Goodwood two back before going to Ripon last week where she led her side of the track and was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and win. Think she’d love firmer footing, which is what she should get here, and with a good racing style, appeals.
9 Candle Of Hope (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. She finished midfield in the Goodwood race that Sophia’s Starlight contested, and she had excuses I thought given she did work on speed and just really struggled to pick her feet up late in the conditions. Back on firmer footing, off prior efforts, she can take this out.
