Eleven races have been set down for Sha Tin on Sunday, headlined by the Group l Chater Cup (2400m), featuring Romantic Warrior.

9 Jolly Jumper (Bet Now: $12.00) is a proven performer at the mile and off a last start win, he takes beating. That win came over 1400m here two weeks ago, sitting on speed and finding plenty under pressure to fend them off and score. Looks to be going really well and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.

6 Soaring Bronco (Bet Now: $3.70) is a few weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here when back off speed and worked home well enough despite having his chance when third. Like the extra 200m for him and he strikes a winnable race.

4 Frantanck (Bet Now: $5.50) ran fourth in the same race that Soaring Bronco contested, won by View All Things. He settled near the speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late. Think with a more patient steer, 1600m suits and he can win.

8 Happy Promise (Bet Now: $8.00) steps up to 1400m after a debut fourth over 1200m here several weeks ago when off speed and worked home well enough without threatening. Like the rise to 1400m for him and J Mac sticks.

2 Nyx Gluck (Bet Now: $3.40) is several weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and tried hard but just lacked the killer blow. Maps ideally and should be effective late.

1 Packing Glory (Bet Now: $6.50) steps back up to 1400m after coming back to 1200m at Happy Valley. He did early work near the speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Think with a patient steer, 1400m is fine and a win wouldn’t shock.

4 Grouper (Bet Now: $3.10) looks the one to beat after a debut track/distance placing two weeks ago, landing on speed and did try hard but just couldn’t get there. Better for the run, J Mac to steer, he’s clearly the one to beat.

2 Sight Dreamer (Bet Now: $31.00) was an eye catcher when first up at this track/distance, getting back to near last and made up decent headway without threatening. Maps to settle closer and should be effective late.

9 Prestige Hall (Bet Now: $12.00) ran over this track/distance several weeks back. He got back off speed and just whacked to the line without really being a winning threat. Tricky gate, but his best is good enough to be dangerous.

3 Packing King (Bet Now: $2.20) on top for me. He resumed with a track/distance win, sitting off speed before coming with a well timed run under Purton to finish best. He remains on for the ride and the tick over trial was strong. One of the hardest to beat.

8 Leading Dragon (Bet Now: $6.00) is a few weeks between runs since attempting to lead throughout at this track/distance, giving a strong kick from the front and looked the winner but just felt the pinch when third. Gets in well after the claim, he commands respect.

4 Genuine Baby (Bet Now: $16.00) ran over this track/distance three weeks back. He got back to near last in the run and was good late without threatening. If he can settle closer, be within range, he’s got the finale to be dangerous.

2 Big Return (Bet Now: $4.20) is flying for Jamie Richards and seems the straight bat play. He has won his past two, both at this track/distance when each time giving his rivals a start and a beating. Tick over trial was good and despite more depth here, I think it’s hard to get away from him.

7 Jolly Brilliant (Bet Now: $3.40) ran second to Big Return in the race mentioned above from April 26 when back and surged late to just miss on the win. The gate does make things tricky but he looks to be a horse heading in the right direction.

5 Bright Inheritance (Bet Now: $21.00) is a son of Star Witness that resumes. His last run came on Nov 30 when okay late at this track/distance. Looks to have trialled well, will be strong late and for mine, is a knockout hope.

14 View All Things (Bet Now: $3.40) is three weeks between runs since a track/distance win, giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win and win well. Good test here, but down in the weights and Purton sticks.

2 Top Time (Bet Now: $11.00) has been kept on ice since April 12 when first up with a second at this track/distance, sitting off speed and worked home strongly when second. If he can get luck from the gate, he’s dangerous.

5 Monarch County (Bet Now: $6.50) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1200m at Happy Valley on April 8 when off speed and just whacked in the run to the line. Tick over trial was good and he gets Moreira to steer.

2 Aerodynamics (Bet Now: $4.50) looks the straight bat play. He ran over 2000m here three weeks ago, settling on speed and was there to win I thought but the end of 2000m just found him out. Like him back to 1800m and good lead that Purton sticks.

1 Joy Of Spring (Bet Now: $14.00) is three weeks between runs since contesting the Queen Mother Memorial Cup over 2400m where he was outclassed on paper and ran accordingly when down the track behind Romantic Thor. Better suited at this level and at this trip, he’s dangerous.

5 Sword Point (Bet Now: $26.00) steps up to 1800m after racing over the mile on the dirt here. He did work from a tricky gate but even allowing for that, he was quite plain. Not sure I could back to win but could pinch first four at a big price.

2400m is the obvious query with 1 Romantic Warrior (Bet Now: $1.03) but he’s alongside Ka Ying Rising as the best ever horse Hong Kong has seen. He was stunning in the Hong Kong Cup and was similar last start in the QEll. If the 2400m is fine, which I think it is, he’s the winner.

I think the danger is clearly 3 Cap Ferrat (Bet Now: $17.00). He is absolutely flying. He steps up from the 1600m of the Champions Mile, driving hard from the back when second to My Wish. 2400m looks ideal, Craig Williams sticks…a win wouldn’t totally shock.

5 Numbers (Bet Now: $46.00) attempted to lead throughout in the QEll and gave a decent sight but just felt the pinch at the end. 2400m is a different pain barrier but I suspect he’ll lead comfortably and from there, can run a positive race.

5 Six Pack (Bet Now: $4.60) is knocking on the door to win and I think he gets his chance. Latest run was at this track/distance several weeks ago when off speed and drove hard in the straight, finishing pretty well I thought when second to Winning Ovation. Racing well, bursting to win, he seems the straight bat play.

7 Mighty Masts (Bet Now: $4.50) ran third to Winning Ovation in the race mentioned above. He settled back off speed too and worked home well without really threatening. He’ll get a good drag into the race and be effective late.

11 Juneau Pride (Bet Now: $5.50) was sneaky good late behind Winning Ovation. He was dragged back near last and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good. If he can settle closer, ridden with intent, he’s dangerous.

9 Elite Golf (Bet Now: $5.50) on top. He hasn’t raced since April 12 when a track/distance winner, sitting on speed and he found plenty under pressure to fend them off and score. Tick over trial was strong and gets serious weight relief.

3 Titan Pegasus (Bet Now: $34.00) is an interesting runner. Former Aussie galloper that is now with Dave Eustace. He’s had extensive trial work to get ready for the Hong Kong debut and has looked strong with each trial. Definite yard and market watch.

2 Mickley (Bet Now: $7.50) steps up to 1200m after racing down the straight where he was beaten for early speed but did make up decent headway in the straight I thought. Like the rise in trip and good lead that Purton is booked.

12 California Waves (Bet Now: $31.00) each way in the last. He ran over this track/distance a few weeks ago where he got into a decent spot off speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job behind Mighty Commander. Think with a more patient steer, he can run a much improved race.

7 Baby Sakura (Bet Now: $2.15) is three weeks between runs since a track/distance win where the track was testing but he made an absolute mess of them in an impressive effort. Maps to get a perfect sit in transit and confident he can measure up.

1 Akashvani (Bet Now: $23.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m two weeks back. He wasn’t able to use the inside gate to advantage and was never really a factor. Senior rider on now, can be ridden with more intent, he’s an improver at odds.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 1 Romantic Warrior

NEXT BEST: Race Ten Number 9 Elite Golf

LONG SHOT: Race Eleven Number 12 California Waves
