Yorkshire Oaks π: View the Field and Odds for the Yorkshire Oaks
Race 1. (22:50) LOWTHER STAKES 1207m
1 Sandrine (Bet Now:Β $2.50) picks herself. Star filly that won the Albany at Royal Ascot before booting up at Newmarket. On ratings, she is the best 2YO filly in the UK and confident she can confirm that furthermore here in what looks another winnable race for her. The one to beat.
2 Desert Dreamer (Bet Now:Β $7.50) is a strong filly that is getting better with racing and is on the improve post her Queen Mary flop at Royal Ascot. Good second to Sandrine at Newmarket before going to Ascot and was just pipped on the peg. She will be around the mark once again.
9 Outside World (Bet Now:Β $11.00) looks to have his share of talent. His dam won this race in 2007 and this colt is heading in the right direction. Led throughout to win at this track/distance last start and was strong to the line. Frankie steers so he does create interest at a price.
Race 2. (23:25) YEARLING STAKES 1207m
I’m with 17 System (Bet Now:Β $4.75). Surprised some with her win at Newmarket two back before going to Ascot where she got checked a couple of times in the straight but picked up and was good late. If she gets a clear path this time around, she’ll take beating.
6 Ever Given (Bet Now:Β $4.75) hasn’t done much wrong in his five start career to date. Impressive winner at Glorious Goodwood before contesting a Stakes race at Naas and was far from disgraced in defeat. Much better suited here and only has to hold his form to take beating.
12 Oh Herbert’s Reign (Bet Now:Β $9.50) is still a maiden but is showing good promise. Was on speed throughout at Newbury last time but just felt the pinch late. Harder here but does get Ryan Moore steering, which could well be a lead, so I think he has to command respect.
Race 3. (00:00) CLIPPER LOGISTICS HANDICAP (HERITAGE HANDICAP) 1583m
I want to give 5 Astro King (Bet Now:Β $7.00) another chance. Progressive animal for Sir Michael Stoute that has been solid over the trip in recent times. Last start, forget he went around here over 2000m when pulling up lame. Ryan Moore sticks and he can definitely bounce back.
1 Maydanny (Bet Now:Β $9.00) is rock solid at this level and despite creeping up in the weights, he has to be respected. Second straight Golden Mile success for him at Goodwood last time when a dominant winner. If he can handle the weight rise, he will take beating.
6 Orbaan (Bet Now:Β $11.00) is certainly capable of figuring in the finish if he gets things to suit. He will need speed on given he likes to sit back and finish late, and he did that last start in the Golden Mile behind Maydanny. If he’s within range 400m out, he can beat this lot.
Race 4. (00:35) YORKSHIRE OAKS 2384m
7 Snowfall (Bet Now:Β $1.40) goes on top, but do I think she’s a $1.40 chance? No way. There is a bit of quality to this line up, but she has taken all before her in recent times, winning the UK and Irish Oaks in stunning fashion. If the rain came, I wouldn’t have her as short as that, but regardless, on current form, she is the one to beat.
2 Wonderful Tonight (Bet Now:Β $5.50) is a star filly in her own right and she’ll ensure that Snowfall knows she’s in a race. Didn’t beat a great deal in the Langtry but she spanked them. If this track happened to have genuine give in it, I’d back her. Just not sure on a firm deck.
4 Eshaada (Bet Now:Β $12.00) is in with a shout. Put together a couple of sharp wins to start her career before going to the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot and could easily make a case to say she should have won. This is clearly a harder assignment but she does have a decent engine under the hood.
Race 5. (01:10) OR8WELLNESS EBF STALLIONS NURSERY 1408m
2 Maglev (Bet Now:Β $4.20) should eat up the 1400m for William Haggas. Ran in a three horse field at Chester last time out when getting he tag behind the leader before getting clear late and surging hard late, just missing out on the win. More genuine tempo this around and be strong at the end.
3 Alflaila (Bet Now:Β $7.00) is another that should be suited up in trip. Ran over 1200m at Newmarket last start. Just a bit flat footed when the sprint went on but picked up and was good late when second. Off that, the extra 200m should be ideal and gets a jockey upgrade.
7 Neptune Legend (Bet Now:Β $11.00) has the 1400m run under the belt and that should hold him in good stead. Led throughout at Newmarket and what I liked is the ticker he shown. He was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure and was too good. He will give a sight from near the speed.
Race 6. (01:45) SIR HENRY CECIL GALTRES STAKES 2384m
Around double figures for 11 Portfolio (Bet Now:Β $9.50) looks very enticing to my eye. Sir Michael Stoute trained filly that is showing really good promise. Can make a case to say she should have won last time out but wanted to wander about under pressure and think she threw the race away. If she switches on, she will take a power of beating.
10 Pennymoor (Bet Now:Β $6.00) is showing good promise for Team Gosden and is getting better with each racing. Not sure she beat a great deal on the All Weather at Kempton Park but she spanked them with absolute ease. Harder here, but confident she can measure up.
6 Dubai Fountain (Bet Now:Β $6.00) has the engine under the hood to take this out. Ribblesdale effort at Royal Ascot was more than sound but her effort at Haydock was very plain. She is hit and miss but her best is certainly capable, so I’m not dismissing her.
Race 7. (02:20) EBF FILLIES' HANDICAP 1408m
9 Sweet Enough (Bet Now:Β $4.50) on top in the get out. Team Gosden trained filly that bolted up fresh at Newmarket. Then went to Yarmouth two weeks ago over the mile and was impressive again. Back in trip is a little query but I’ll bank on the stable knowing what they’re doing.
8 Spirit Of Bemuda (Bet Now:Β $4.75) is in a purple patch at the moment for William Haggas and has to command respect. Found plenty and drew clear late to win two back at Leicester. Then went to Newmarket and got the job done again in good style. Hard to beat the way she’s racing at the moment.
14 Coul Queen (Bet Now:Β $12.00) can be hit and miss at times, but her best is certainly more than capable to be around the mark at odds. Far from disgraced in a good race at Deauville last time out, so she returns back home and a truly run 1400m should be right up her alley.
