Nine races will be run and won at Happy Valley this Wednesday with good depth across the program.

2 Wave Garden (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in the opener but not really a race I want to get involved in. He ran over this trip at Sha Tin on Oct 12 where he got back to near last in the run and made up some headway without threatening. This isn’t a deep race so he doesn’t need to improve too much to take this out.

3 Free Ponyy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot just behind the speed and tried hard to get involved but couldn’t quite get there. Better for the run, he commands respect despite the tricky gate.

7 Genius Baby (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m at Sha Tin. He got a fair way out of his ground and was good late but never really threatening. He’ll spot them a start but be strong late.

1 Courier Magic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be taking care of these. Runner up in both runs this time in, the latest over this trip on the dirt at Sha Tin when back and closing off strongly late when second. Hard fit, Purton to steer…keen.

4 Apolar Fighter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been strong his last two and commands respect. His last two runs have come at this track/distance, winning two back before a close up second. Maps ideally and is one of the key chances.

9 Foremost Teddy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Wednesday at this track/distance when off speed and was never really a factor. If he can settle closer in the run, his best is good enough to be dangerous.

3 Run Run Timing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take beating here after a last start track/distance placing. He sat off speed and worked home with purpose. If he can settle a pair or two closer, he’ll be extremely hard to hold out.

6 Oriental Surprise (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a couple of weeks between runs since racing over 1000m here. He got into a decent spot behind the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there. Racing like 1200m suits and this isn’t a deep contest.

7 Cosmo Navigator (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Oct 1 at Sha Tin where he didn’t really fire a shot. Fresh legs at 1200m I do like and although he’ll likely spot them a start, he’ll be strong at the end.

1 Samarkand (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win and I think he gets a golden chance here. He attempted to lead throughout two weeks ago at this track/distance and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when second. If he gets front end control, he’ll take running down.

8 Absolute Awakened (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a tricky draw to overcome but has found positive form, which came at this track/distance when third last start after getting a decent run in transit. Dangerous if he can overcome the gate.

9 Happy Buddies (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1200m here several weeks back. He got a fair way back off speed and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up some headway. The rise in trip I find interesting but he’s lightly raced so I wouldn’t pen him just yet.

2 Mr Desira (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. Track/distance placegetter last start, attempting to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but just felt the pinch late. Lands on speed here and will take beating.

3 Harmony Fire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fourth in the race mentioned above. He got a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. If within range, he has the finale to take this out.

5 Star Performer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran fifth in the same race and I thought ran a credible race given he was wide no cover and chasing throughout, but he kept on and was a definite pass mark. Better run in transit this time around, he can win.

7 Exceed The Wish (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is sneaky flying and should take beating here. He ran a couple of weeks ago at this track/distance when getting back to near last in the run but worked home really well late in the piece. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’ll take holding out.

1 Healthy Healthy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m again after coming back to 1000m here last start. He got off speed and was chasing from a fair way out but really liked the way he finished his race off when second. Back up in trip, he appeals.

9 Von Baer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since finishing fifth at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot after blundering the start but the early burn just told late. If he jumps clean, he is good enough to threaten.

7 Smart City (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a horse I want to take a chance on. I think he was a total forgive last start after getting back from the wide gate. He did make up some headway but he was never really threatening. Should land in a more prominent spot this time around and gets J Mac.

1 Top Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when fifth. He did have his chance but I thought he was entitled to finish a touch closer after getting held up late. His best is good enough to take this out.

5 Savvy Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting runner. He resumed several weeks back at Sha Tin over 1200m where he was never a factor after getting back in the run. Jumps straight to the mile but has good upside and is bred to appreciate it. Watch betting.

5 Loyal Bright (Bet Now:  $SP.00) could be an absolute rocket. Time will tell. 3/3 when racing in Queensland before being purchased for Hong Kong. He has looked super in trial work for his Hong Kong debut…market will be fascinating but I say he’s good to go here.

1 Cheaha (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be given respect here. Former Kiwi that made his Hong Kong debut at this track/distance a fortnight back and was a real eye catcher I thought, closing with purpose from the back in a good effort. Was good enough for Purton to want the ride and he’s a key threat.

8 Captain Link (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a former Aussie galloper making his Hong Kong debut. He showed good enough promise when racing over there albeit his overall record wouldn’t suggest that. I think he may need the run but the trials have been encouraging.

10 Solid Win (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will do me each way in the last. He is having his first look at Happy Valley but I think he’ll be fine. Latest run was Oct 12 at Sha Tin over 1400m when back near last but made up good ground when fourth. The rise in trip should be fine, down in the weights…I think he’ll run a beauty.

11 Fantastic Fun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect after a couple of wins on the bounce, both coming at this track/distance. Latest was just over two weeks ago when knuckling down with purpose from off speed to score. Harder here but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

3 Highland Rahy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m here on Oct 12 when on speed and tried hard but the end of 1800m just found him out. Better suited at 1650m, he’s dangerous.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 5 Loyal Bright

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 1 Courier Magic

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 10 Solid Win
