Race 1. (15:45) Shek Mun Hcp (C5) 1400m
1 Ragnarr (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the straight bat play in the opener. Few weeks between runs since a win over 1200m here, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. He’s racing as if 1400m will be no issue and off a win, he is the top seed for me against these.
3 Riding High (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran third in the race mentioned above that Ragnarr saluted in. He got a fair way off speed and kept chasing when third to the impressive winner. The gate means he’ll likely be near last in the run but should be strong at the end.
7 Lucky Blessing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran fourth in the same Ragnarr race. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent kick from the front but just felt the pinch late. I think if he gets complete front end control, he’ll run really well.
Race 2. (16:15) Sun Tin Wai Hcp (C4) 1000m
3 Little Monster (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) takes beating here after a debut at this track/distance when off speed, raw and new, but loved the way he finished his race off in defeat when fourth. If he can be within range and show better racing manners, he’ll take holding out.
5 Robot Lucky Star (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) hasn’t raced since his debut at this track/distance on July 1 when near the speed and was there to win but just couldn’t quite get there when third. Given the break, trial work has been encouraging and Zac sticks from the debut.
10 Enjoy Golf (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran sixth in the same race that Little Monster contested, won by Flaming Riches. He got into a decent spot near the front and was there to threaten but just couldn’t quite finish the race off. Not sure he wins, but can run top four.
Race 3. (16:45) Chun Shek Hcp (C4) 1800m
13 Double Win (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks one of the better bets on the card after placing first up at this track/distance. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening, I really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat when third to Oriental Smoke. If he can use the inside gate and settle closer, he’ll take a power of beating.
3 Beauty Viva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran second in the Oriental Smoke race. He had a suck run in transit on the fence before getting clear and found the line well in defeat when beaten just under a length. Purton takes over and third up, should be ready to go.
6 Forever Folks (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a must for exotics. He ran behind Oriental Smoke where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was a definite pass mark in defeat. If he can settle closer, he’s a threat.
Race 4. (17:15) Sun Chui Hcp (C4) 1400m
9 Autumn Vibes (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) needs luck from the wide gate but I do think he is the best horse in the race. He resumed over 1200m here when attempting to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but had no answers late for Aurora Patch. 1400m should be fine and if he gets across without spending too many petrol tickets, he’ll take holding out.
3 Raging Rapids (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Both runs back have come at this track/distance, the latest being behind Invincible Ibis on Oct 1 when off speed and worked home well to finish fourth. If he can get a drag into the race and be within range, he can win.
7 Run Run Smart (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 1400m should be fine. He ran fifth to Packing Phoenix over 1200m here last time when off speed and although under some pressure, he stayed on and was a definite pass mark. Not sure he wins, but can run in the first four without shocking.
Race 5. (18:10) Sun Chui Hcp (C4) 1400m
3 Victory Champion (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the 1400m run under the belt now, which should hold him in good stead. That run came on Oct 1 behind Invincible Ibis when off speed, getting the suck run and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Lands in a plum spot this time around and this isn’t a deep contest overall.
6 Strange Alert (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. He resumed in the Invincible Ibis race where he got back to near last in the run but worked home with real purpose late in the piece in an eye catching return when second. If he can use the inside gate to advantage, he’s dangerous against these.
2 All Round Winner (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance. He got off speed from the inside gate and while he didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight, he was entitled to finish his race off better. Big jockey upgrade, kind map again, I am not dismissing him.
Race 6. (18:40) Lung Hang Hcp (C4) 1200m
3 Packing Phoenix (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a very nice horse of the future. He debuted with a sharp win at this track/distance, trucking in the run before being clicked up by Zac and he was strong to the line despite doing a bit wrong. Better for the run, will settle handy, takes beating.
1 Spicy Standard (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has done little wrong in two runs back and commands respect. Both runs have come at this track/distance, winning fresh before a second to Packing Phoenix when just off speed and had his chance but just couldn’t quite get there. Racing well and should be around the mark.
5 Savvy Warrior (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Too Darn Hot that resumes for David Eustace. He hasn’t raced since July 13 over 1400m here when off speed and just whacked in the run to the line. Fresh at 1200m I don’t mind for him and he has trialled nicely for the return.
Race 7. (19:10) The Sha Tin Trophy 1600m
1 Voyage Bubble (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to lump the weight but there is a reason for that. He is the heir apparent to Romantic Warrior and despite bigger fish to fry, he is the clear class runner. He hasn’t raced since late last season when such an impressive winner of the Chater Cup. Even if he’s not 100% wound up, I think he’s too good.
6 My Wish (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since an electric return when finishing best to take out the Celebration Cup. He got a suck run in transit before angling for clear air and he got better as the race went on to win and win well. Tricky draw but has the run under the belt and is well weighted.
10 Cap Ferrat (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is likely using this as a kick off point for the Hong Kong Cup maybe? But he is a good horse when right and maps to do no work. He did nice things last season, highlighted of course by his Derby win. Doubt he wins but can run top four.
Race 8. (19:45) Lek Yuen Hcp (C3) 1200m
5 Star Rise (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be winning this. He was one of the eye catchers of the meeting when resuming over this track/distance on Sep 28, getting back to near last and charged late when second to Little Paradise. Fitter, has a gate to settle much closer…I think good luck beating him.
2 Patch Of Stars (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after resuming over 1400m here. He was a well backed favourite but was drawn wide, didn’t get the clearest of runs…I think just forgive and forget the run. Maps much better this time around and back to 1200m I like.
10 Copartner Fleet (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran fifth in the same race that Patch Of Stars contested. That race was won by Beauty Crescent where he got into a decent spot in transit and just whacked in the run to the line. Tricky draw, but he can run top four with luck in transit.
Race 9. (20:20) Wo Che Hcp (C3) 1400m
3 Everyone’s Star (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) to resume a winner. Frankie Lor trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since May 31 over this track/distance when placing behind Ka Ying Attack after getting off speed. Looks to have trialled well for the return and despite a tricky gate, happy to be in his corner.
1 Brilliant Express (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should love the rise to 1400m after resuming over 1200m here a few weeks ago when back near last in the run and worked home with real purpose late when fifth to Tomodachi Kokoroe, who could be a contender for Group l company. Fitter, 1400m, can settle closer, dangerous.
2 Flying Fortress (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came behind Beauty Crescent at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit and just whacked in the run to the line. His best is good enough to threaten so I wouldn’t dismiss him.
Race 10. (20:55) Sha Kok Hcp (C3) 1600m
14 Fortune Boy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way in the get out. David Hayes trained gelding that resumed at this track/distance a few weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Pope Cody. Fitter, can settle closer, be effective late, he can take this out.
5 Beauty Bolt (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran third to Pope Cody in the race mentioned above. He lobbed into a beaut run in transit and loomed to win but first up, condition just gave way late in the piece. Better for the run and with luck from the gate, he’ll be around the mark.
2 Winning Gold (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was a total forgive in the Pope Cody race given he bombed the start when the gates opened, pretty much sealing his fate. Maps to settle much closer if the inside gate can be used…dangerous at odds.
