17/8/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – York, Juddmonte International day

Going to have a throw at the stumps in the opener in the shape of 18 Bergerac (Bet Now: $21.00). His recent form has come at 1200m, with the last couple at Newmarket, where he has been on speed and fighting on pretty well in placing each time. Back to the five furlongs, he’ll land near the front and give you a decent run at a price.

20 Ancient Times (Bet Now: $12.00) has somewhat turned his form around since being reverted back to the five furlongs. Looked the winner when he presented at Newmarket last time but had to settle for a game second to Celsius. He does tend to race well on the fresh side and down in the weights, he appeals.

2 Zarzyni (Bet Now: $11.00) has an excellent second up record and looks to have been set for the race. He resumed down the straight at Ascot and worked to the line strongly from off the speed when third to Mountain Peak. Drawn wide, he should be able to get good cover and launch at them late.

Really keen on 6 Local Dynasty (Bet Now: $3.20). I think he’s a Group l talent that is raw and new to the caper, but very good. Did a bit wrong on debut at Newmarket but he just glided into the race under a hold and when Doyle asked for an effort, the response was instant and he spanked them. He’s destined for better than this so at $3+, I think he’s the best on the card.

7 Mill Stream (Bet Now: $4.20) looks a colt of some talent. Good change up speed to win on debut at Doncaster before going to Newmarket where that turn of foot was again on display and he looked home but was run down late. Form out of that race has been suspect, but he’s hard fit and the change up speed he’s got is a big advantage.

2 Chillhi (Bet Now: $13.00) is a knockout hope. He’s had two career outings. Didn’t fire a shot on debut at Haydock Park but bounced back in a big way at Newcastle last time, seemingly lapping up the Synthetic surface in a dominant display. Clearly this is a harder assignment, but he’ll be strong late based on last start.

5 Secret State (Bet Now: $3.00) likely stamps his St Leger credentials with a win here. He’s a very good horse for Charlie Appleby that has won four on the bounce, each time lumping weight and proving too good for his rivals, the latest being a dominant win at Goodwood. See no reason to jump off.

2 Deauville Legend (Bet Now: $4.50) is on his way to Melbourne provided he holds his form, which I think he will. He’s racing really well this time in, three back running second to Secret State. Got the win two back in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket before a game second at Goodwood behind New London. Commands respect.

3 El Bodegon (Bet Now: $12.00) is another that is on his way to Melbourne should he hold his form. He has only missed a place once in an eight start career, the form line that stands out being two back when third to Vadeni and Modern Games, both of which are elite talent. $12+ does look a touch of overs.

I am a bit surprised that $1.40/thereabouts is available for 2 Baaeed (Bet Now: $1.40). He is the best horse in the world as it stands and you could argue that that what he has done to date has been a bonus given he is bred to be a proper 2000m horse. It was just a win I thought in the Sussex at Gooodwood but it did look like a horse wanting further. He gets that here and overall, the depth is thin outside him and Mishriff.

5 Mishriff (Bet Now: $5.00) is the definite query. Little query on how well he is going, but his best is absolutely good enough to give Baaeed a shake. He should have won two back at Sandown in the Eclipse before a third in the King George at Ascot. Off the Sandown effort, he has to command respect because at his best, he’s one of the better 2000m gallopers in the world.

4 High Definition (Bet Now: $41.00) is one I could entertain for wider multiples. He has been kept on ice for this, having not raced since a down the track effort at Saint Cloud in France. He looks like he will get the lead quite comfortably and this track can suit on pace runners, especially if they get control.

1 Thunderous (Bet Now: $11.00) is worth an each way ticket in a tricky race. He ran in the Goodwood Cup last time out and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Kyprios in what is the A1 form reference for stayers. Back to this level, Ryan Moore on, the double figures is enticing enough.

4 Master Milliner (Bet Now: $5.50) has a fab record at York and he’s found winning form, plus is holding it. Strong winner two back at Kempton on the Synthetic before a gutsy win over 4112m at Goodwood in what was a slog to the line. He’ll be strong at the end and is pretty much the only horse in a current purple patch.

Best version of 2 Withhold (Bet Now: $20.00) is certainly capable. He hasn’t really fired a shot for nearly two years, his latest run being a down the track effort at Goodwood behind Master Milliner. His best days are probably behind him, but he does have a class edge and overall, the depth is a bit on the thin side.

I think a fast run 1000m is ideal for 14 Pink Crystal (Bet Now: $5.50). William Haggas trained filly that has won her past two, both over 1200m. Latest win came at Brighton where she was given a peach by Marquand and drove hard late to win. I reckon class has got her home in those wins and IMO she looks a 1000m horse.

15 International Girl (Bet Now: $9.00) is heading in the right direction and is similar to Pink Crystal, a fast run 1000m looks ideal. Ran over 1200m here last time out where she got back in the run but Orr found clear air and she went through her gears like a nice horse to win and win well. Interesting she comes back to 1000m but has recent winning experience at the track.

13 Fast Response (Bet Now: $11.00) is down in the weights and is a filly that is racing well without winning. Ran down the straight at Haydock Park last start. She had a smother behind the front pack and looked to be going wel. Found clear air and was solid late but had her chance when third. Down in the weights, she’s a knockout hope.

9 Ramazan (Bet Now: $6.00) on top in the get out. This colt hasn’t done much wrong in a four start career, the latest run being a dominant win down the straight at Haydock Park last time where he absolutely trucked behind the speed before angling for clear air and he let down powerfully to win and win well. Fast run 1200m, he’ll be strong at the end.

15 Mrs U S A (Bet Now: $12.00) is the one on the up. She’s still very new and doing a bit wrong, but I think she has an engine under the hood. Liked the way she dug in to win at Sandown last time, wandering about under pressure but finished best to win. That was at 1000m and she’s racing like 1200m suits.

11 Kuwait City (Bet Now: $26.00) is one at big odds I could have something small on. He won his maiden at Yarmouth like it was a barrier trial. That’s why connections went to the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot and was far from disgraced behind a top class colt in Little Big Bear. First up at 1200m tells me there is intent, so watch the market.
