Race 1. (23:30) Norfolk Stakes 1005m
2 Cadamosto (Bet Now:ย $6.00) has the Aidan O’Brien polish and commands respect. Not sure he beat a great deal on debut at Dundalk on the Synthetic but he produced a nice turn of foot when asked and was impressive to the line. Was thinking he would be a decent Coventry contender, but does look hard to beat here.
9 Lucci (Bet Now:ย $6.00) has the Wesley Ward polish and commands respect. Debuted at Belmont when leading throughout and was quite dominant under Velazquez, who remains on. The weather forecast will be crucial because generally these Wesley Ward runners struggle on wet ground and the forecast is for rain on Thursday morning.
14 Second Wind (Bet Now:ย $13.00) is unbeaten in two career outings for William Haggas and does get Tom Marquand to steer. Impressive on speed win last time out at Salisbury under Cieran Fallon and was quite strong at the end. Good racing pattern and drawn out, which is a positive.
Race 2. (00:05) Hampton Court Stakes 2004m
Looking at this race with Mohaafeth out due to the reason I think he’ll be scratched if this track is wet. Happy to speck each way 10 The Rosstafarian (Bet Now:ย $15.00), banking on a wet track being on the cards. He was a real eye catcher late fresh in the Craven before going to the Irish 2000 Guineas when far from disgraced in defeat after being in the wrong part of the track. He is crying out for more ground and is proven on wet ground.
4 Movin Time (Bet Now:ย $3.25) rises big time in grade/depth but he looks a good mover. His overall time when winning his maiden at Newmarket last time out wasn’t strong, but the manner in which he won was impressive and the form out of it has been good. Also noteworthy that this horse holds a nomination for the Irish Derby, so they must think he goes good. Keen to see how he measures up.
6 Pythageras (Bet Now:ย $26.00) did beat The Rosstafarian as a juvenile last season so if you that guy, you have to fancy this one. I thought he was just fair in the Dante at York but this looks a more suitable assignment and I think at his best, he is capable of being dangerous at a decent price.
Race 3. (00:40) Ribblesdale Stakes 2405m
11 Noon Star (Bet Now:ย $3.00) picks herself with the form around her. Impressive winner fresh at Wetherby before going to the Musidora where she ran second to Snowfall, who of course came out to win the Oaks, so that form just reads so well for this. Happy to be in her corner.
7 Gloria Mundi (Bet Now:ย $5.50) has done little wrong in her two start career. Both career outings have come at Newbury, winning nicely on debut before a closing second a few weeks ago when getting a fair way back in the run. Last run was on wet ground, so that is a tick for her should we get rain.
5 Dubai Fountain (Bet Now:ย $12.00) can easily bounce back. Forget she went around in the Oaks. Some horses just don’t handle Epsom and I think she is one who just didn’t handle it at all, finishing down the track behind Snowfall. Off her prior form, gee it does read well and she is a decent price.
Race 4. (01:15) Ascot Gold Cup 4014m
It’s hard to see anything other than a win for 4 Stradivarius (Bet Now:ย $2.00), yet again in this great race. He gave them an absolute spanking fresh in the Sagaro over two miles here. He was just awesome and once again is prepped up beautifully for this race, and of course who could forget his win in the race last year, which was IMO the most dominant win across the world in a big race for 2020.
12 Subjectivist (Bet Now:ย $7.00) is the very interesting runner. Was somewhat of a surprise what he produced to win the Dubai Gold Cup over the two miles. He spanked them from in front and was miles too good. The knock I have is what did he beat? Overall, nothing IMO. So he needs to improve, but no reason to suggest he can’t and give Stradivarius a decent race.
This run will probably determine if 3 Spanish Mission (Bet Now:ย $19.00) comes down under for the Melbourne Cup. He was a dominant winner of the Yorkshire Cup and has looked a top class stayer for over 12 months now. But this is clearly a tough test, so I’m keen to see how he goes.
Race 5. (02:00) Britannia Stakes 1609m
Lloyd Williams and Joseph O’Brien combine with 21 Grid (Bet Now:ย $23.00) and I think he’s in with a shout here at a big price. Don’t think it was a strong maiden he won at Cork last time out, but he led throughout and was dominant in getting the job done. He’s a swimmer so if the rain comes, I think he’ll give a bold sight.
29 Air To Air (Bet Now:ย $7.00) looks hard to beat for George Boughey. Great steer from Jamie Spencer to win at Doncaster last time out. Spencer, as he likes to do, played the patient game and it worked wonders with this guy. Trucked up sweetly before getting clear air late and away he went. This sort of race sets up ideally for him and has won on wet ground.
5 Raadobarg (Bet Now:ย $7.50) is racing well for Roger Varian and is a key chance. 3/3 this time in, the latest seeing him bolt up at Haydock on heavy ground when near the speed and drawing clear. The ground, if wet, will be no issue for him, he’ll put himself near the speed and give his all.
Race 6. (02:35) King George V Stakes 2405m
Throwing at the stumps here via 19 Tashkhan (Bet Now:ย $11.00) and a bit surprised $26+ is available. He was a dominant winner at Haydock last time out on wet ground and if you listen to the ratings boys and girls, the race and his performance rated through the roof. Handles wet ground, strong late…just hope the inside is okay.
1 Sir Lamorak (Bet Now:ย $4.75) is an interesting runner. He was touted as a potential Derby prospect but the stable elected to pull the pin for some reason. He comes here and does look hard to beat because he was a very impressive winner last time out at Leopardstown. He’s in the right camp, progressive and has change up speed.
16 Surefire (Bet Now:ย $9.00) is a Ralph Beckett trained three year old that spanked them on wet ground at Leicester last time out. He looked to travel sweetly in the run before being clicked up and away he went. Drawing out isn’t a bad thing if this track is wet and traditionally this race has been dominated by runners drawing wide.
Race 7. (03:10) Buckingham Palace Stakes 1408m
16 Aldaary (Bet Now:ย $6.00) is a nice prospect for William Haggas. Won his first three career races in good style before going to Goodwood, where I thought Crowley rode a very negative race and set the horse an impossible task. He looks to be heading in the right direction and should love the rise to 1400m. Quite keen on his chances.
I think 7 Lord Campari (Bet Now:ย $11.00) deserves another chance. Forget he went around fresh in the Lockhinge. Bumped into a star in Palace Pier and Lord Campari just isn’t a Group l horse. Not at this stage of his career anyway. This looks more his level and stable have a great record in these handicaps.
11 Bielsa (Bet Now:ย $15.00) is racing well at the moment for Kevin Ryan. Was there to win at Haydock last time out but just missed out when beaten a nose in a close finish. He looked a very promising horse back in 2019. The wheels fell off last year but in 2021, he’s racing well and is a first four threat.
