14/1/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Happy Valley

Nine races will be run and won at Happy Valley this Wednesday night, highlighted by the Group lll January Cup (1800m).

4 Happy Boys (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top in the opener but not really a race I want to get involved in. He placed three weeks ago at this track/distance, getting back in the run and made up decent headway in the straight. If he can get a drag into the race, he’ll take holding out.

5 Podium (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got a fair way out of his ground but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat when fourth. Racing well and should be around the mark.

3 Blazing Beam (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Concorde Star race from three weeks back, the race that Happy Boys ran third in. He got into a decent spot in transit bu5 just whacked in the run to the line. Not sure I could back him to win but is a must for multiples I say.

Landed with 10 Setanta (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He placed at this track/distance three weeks ago. He got back to near last in the run but made up solid headway in a good effort in defeat. Just hoping for a drag into the race to get within range and launch late.

1 Fortunate Son (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Wednesday night at this track/distance. He got back off speed and was okay late without really threatening. He can bounce back against these.

3 Sure Joyful (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Sha Tin when outclassed on paper and ran accordingly when down the track. Back to this level and up in trip, he’s an improver at odds.

2 Good Luck Happy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks one of the better bets on the program. He debuted three weeks ago at this track/distance where he was beaten for early speed but really liked the way he closed his race off when second. Better for the run, kind map, looks talented…keen.

3 Never Settle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has placed in two runs from as many career runs. Latest of those runs was Nov 26 when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort. Tick over trial was pretty good, he commands respect against these.

6 Falcon Hunter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m at Sha Tin when off speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish his race off. Tricky gate but think he has ability. First four contender.

8 Incanto Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found positive form and despite the freshen up, I do feel he is top seed. He ran five weeks ago at this track/distance when a big price. He had a suck run on the fence and worked home pretty well I thought when third. Tick over trial was good and the big tick is Purton taking over.

3 Glorious Journey (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and did try hard but just couldn’t quite get there when second. Racing in really good form at present and should be around the mark.

2 Noble Pursuit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was solid in defeat three weeks back at this track/distance when off speed and while he did have his chance, I actually thought he battled away pretty well in defeat. Tricky gate but is a knockout hope with luck in running.

6 Max Que (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the way I’m leaning in what looks a pretty competitive Class 3. He ran over this track/distance five weeks ago where he got a fair way off speed and spotted those in front a start but worked home really well when third to Silvery Breeze. Maps to settle much closer and takes holding out.

3 Silvery Breeze (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won that race mentioned above from five weeks back. It was a great ride from Bowman, getting back to near last but tracked into the race with purpose before angling clear and finishing best. Similar situation again, he commands respect.

2 Keefy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m five weeks ago here when down the track behind Helene Feeling, who goes around as a chance in the January Cup. Form reads well and his best is clearly good enough to threaten.

7 Rewarding Buddy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win and I think he gets a great chance here. He ran second to Awesome Treasure three weeks ago at this track/distance, trying hard from off speed but couldn’t quite get there. Maps ideally this time around and this isn’t a deep race.

8 Dan Attack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been given a mini break, his last run being Nov 26 at this track/distance. He was quite keen in the run behind the speed and tried hard but the early petrol burn took its toll. If he can relax in the run, he’s dangerous.

10 Same To You (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be regarded as a chance after his effort on New Years Day at Sha Tin. He ran seventh but was beaten under a length in a real blanket finish to tho the line. If he runs up to that effort here, he can win.

1 Beauty Joy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks top seed here. He comes through the Hong Kong Mile when back near last and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat behind Voyage Bubble. 1800m should be fine and there is no horse of that quality here. He is the one to beat.

6 Hong Lok Golf (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a bit of an unknown at 1800m but is a very genuine animal who will just keep giving. He has been kept on the fresh side since a win over the mile at Sha Tin, really digging in when required to score. Good test here but think he can measure up.

4 Helene Feeling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a track/distance specialist that won here two back at the trip before coming back to the mile three weeks back and was still too good. Not sure he has the class, but given his love affair here, he’s one for exotics.

7 Crimson Flash (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is 2/2 at the track/distance and despite the sticky gate, I think he is the one. Several weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Sha Tin when far from disgraced in defeat behind Sky Trust. If he can overcome the draw, he’s the one.

2 Storm Rider (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after a win over 1400m at Sha Tin on New Years Day, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. He’ll be strong late. Just depends how much start he concedes.

9 Harmony N Blessed (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Wednesday night over 1000m here where he did too much work and the hard run told late. Like him up to 1200m and with a positive steer, he’ll give a sight.

8 Always Ahead (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps in the last. Former NSW galloper that made his Hong Kong debut over 1200m at Sha Tin where he copped a check at the start and was never really a factor. Had trialled well prior and has trialled well since so at odds, I think he’s worth a peanut each way.

12 California Blitz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to Class 3 company after a track/distance win three weeks ago, leading throughout and just had enough in hand to score. Good racing style and will look the winner for a fair way.

1 Wonder Kit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he did too much work on speed and tired late. More economical run in transit, he’s dangerous at odds in a winnable race.

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 8 Always Ahead
