Coolmore and Yulong have emerged as the leading contenders to secure Golden Slipper winner Guest House, the first colt to win the race and be available on the open market since 2020.
Unsurprisingly, the two global breeding powerhouses have quickly declared their interest following the Mick Price and Mick Kent Jnr-trained colt’s dominant victory in the Golden Slipper at Rosehill on Saturday.
While a number of major commercial studs are expected to show interest in acquiring a Slipper-winning colt, Coolmore and Yulong are widely considered the most likely to table the strongest offers for the son of Home Affairs.
Guest House had already showcased his ability earlier in the season when finishing an unlucky third in the Blue Diamond Stakes, further boosting his appeal as a future stallion prospect.
The colt is predominantly owned by members of the Roll The Dice Racing syndicate, along with clients of Price and Kent Jnr.
Coolmore, which stands leading first-season sire Home Affairs, recently strengthened its stallion ranks with a reported $70 million acquisition of New Zealand-based sire Super Seth as it looks to rebuild its roster following the departures of Wootton Bassett and So You Think.
Yulong also has a strong pipeline of colts set to retire to stud in the coming seasons.
The operation confirmed the retirement of last year’s ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Vinrock, while Blue Diamond winner Devil Night and The Galaxy winner Private Harry are also potential stallion prospects for 2026.
Roll The Dice Racing’s Leigh Saville said there were still several factors to consider before finalising a deal, but noted the ownership group’s prior experience in negotiating a stallion agreement with their former colt Profiteer would be beneficial.
