Russian Camelot continued his late-season surge with another metropolitan winner as talented filly Censori made it back-to-back victories at Sandown on Wednesday.
The Widden Stud stallion has enjoyed a strong finish to the season, following Tuesday’s impressive debut success by one of his two-year-olds with another standout performance from the progressive three-year-old filly.
Prepared by Danny O’Brien and partnered by Lachlan Neindorf, Censori relished the testing Heavy 10 conditions to edge out her rivals by a long head over 1600 metres.
The victory improved her record to three wins from six starts and lifted her career earnings beyond $160,000.
Censori was bred by Danny O’Brien in partnership and races in the ownership of O’Brien and his wife after the filly and her dam were offered through Inglis Digital in 2023 as part of the dissolution of that breeding partnership.
O’Brien revealed the family has been a long-term project for his stable.
“We bred her dam Berkshire Lady, who was placed in a Tassie Oaks and I also trained the grand-dam Placement, who was by Savabeel and went right through in the spring to place in a Wakeful Stakes and an Oaks,” O’Brien said after Censori won on debut last spring.
