‘It’s a young roster and we’re very happy with the line-up at Vinery. The interest we’ve received points to another good season but we’re mindful of breeders to keep our fees reasonable.’

Vinery Bloodstock Manager Adam White states ‘it’s an exciting time with Ole Kirk and Exceedance on the threshold of their stud careers alongside proven Group 1 stallion All Too Hard.’

‘Along with rising stars like Headwater and Star Turn, the yearling sales are producing more positive results for our sires and prizemoney increases continue to keep the industry buoyant.’

Champion Group 1 sprinter-miler Ole Kirk will head Vinery Stud’s roster for 2022 with ‘Vinery looking to the future with a roster tailor-made for every broodmare owner.’

‘In covering his first book of 170 quality mares last year, Ole Kirk is an exciting stallion prospect and provides a vital outcross to mares from the Danehill sire line,’ said Adam White.

‘In being the Champion 3YO Horse of The Year in 2020-21, he’s certainly was the best colt of his generation, and being such a good match for so many mares gives him the best opportunity.’

As the second to completed the Golden Rose-Caulfield Guineas double, following The Autumn Sun in 2018, Ole Kirk lifted his sire Written Tycoon to be Australian Champion Sire in 2020-21.

Vinery says ‘his Bel Esprit dam Naturale adds another dimension in being that she’s a full-sister to our best-ever sprinter Black Caviar,’ and is the immediate family of top-line sprinter Magnus.

Their breeder Rick Jamieson has booked his Gr2 winning Street Sense mare La Passe ’as I’m confident Ole Kirk will play a major role at Vinery and he’ll be a great speed stallion of the future.’

Explosive sprinter Exceedance remains unchanged after being fully subscribed with an average of 148 mares in his first two books, and is a son of breed-shaping sire Exceed And Excel.

Having claimed the stallion-making Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington, he previously defeated Bivouac in the San Domenico Stakes, and then third in the Golden Rose and Run to The Rose.

‘His first foals are athletes with scope, strength and substance,’ Adam White stated, ‘and we’ve been really impressed, and the feedback from our clients has been terrific.’

‘Again, his first foals received widespread praise so it’s no surprise there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding his first weanlings, who will head to the upcoming sales at the end of the month.’

Arguably, All Too Hard is the best value for money sire in the Hunter Valley and already he’ looking to re-match his elevation into the Australian Top 10 tables for prizemoney and winners.

‘I tell breeders All Too Hard is the sort of stallion that can set your young mare up for the future, as he has sired three Gr1’s this season – Behemoth and Forbidden Love here and Wellington in HK.’

‘He had 22 individual Stakes winners and 100 individual winners in each of the last four seasons, and this year his yearlings sold up to $320,000 off a 94% clearance-rate at the five majors.’

‘There’s just no stopping Star Turn,’ boasts Adam White ‘with just two crops racing he’s firing in every jurisdiction with 8 Stakes performers around Australia and New Zealand.’

‘Star Turn had the highest 2YO winning strike-rate of all Australian sires in 2020-21 at better than 46%, and that was 11% higher than Snitzel and 17% higher than I Am Invincible.’

‘His first-season figures were amazing and he’s backing it up this season, with his clearance rate at the major sales this year being 94%, and they averaged over six-times his current service fee.’

Headwater has made an immediate impact, in being Australian Champion First Season Sire by Winners in 2019-20 and Australia’s Champion Second Season Sire by Earnings in 2020-21.

A leading Third Crop Sire by winners, his first two crops have 86 winners of 171 races to date, and at the major yearling sales this year he had a 100% clearance rate at an average of $101,000.

In averaging over 140 mares each season, Headwater blends ‘Speed on Speed’ as he’s a son of Exceed And Excel and Gr1 Oakleigh Plate winner River Dove, winning the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes.
