Coolmore’s Tom Moore has backed his judgement on rising sire Home Affairs, purchasing a $290,000 colt at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale in Sydney on Tuesday.
Acting under the Tasman Bloodstock banner, Moore secured the Parsons Creek-bred youngster with plans to reoffer him at next year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
The colt is out of stakes-placed Pivotal mare Telopea and was quickly identified as a standout prospect.
“We’ve got loads of good Home Affairs back at the farm and you can’t have too much of a good thing,” Moore said after signing for Lot 68.
“Home Affairs is a stallion that we’ve always had a huge opinion of and he’s produced a Golden Slipper-winning colt from his first crop. Not many stallions can claim that.
“And we think what’s happening with Home Affairs at the moment is only the tip of the iceberg, so accumulating as many quality Home Affairs foals as we can, we think there’s a significant upside there.”
The early returns for Home Affairs have been strong, with his weanlings averaging $205,000 on the opening day of the sale, underlining growing confidence in the young sire.
Moore’s purchase reflects broader market sentiment that the son of I Am Invincible could become a major commercial force in the years ahead.
