That great old saying that racing is a great leveller could not be more showcased than at Wyong this afternoon.
We see on the one hand, a highly anticipated returned to the racetrack by the beautifully bred colt BARBARIC (I Am Invincible-Mimi Lebrock) and of course he steps out about 35mins after CANDY PANTS (Excelebration-Alli’s Aria) is hosed and back in her tie up stall.
This pair is highlighted because, Barbaric cost $900,000 as a yearling – making him the most expensive horse purchased at the races today – and will be worth around $3,000,000 if he wins today.
Candy Pants, meanwhile, cost just $1000 via an online sale – making her the cheapest – and will be worth about $3000 if she wins today.
Barbaric, who resumes in the $100,000 Wyong Magic Millions 3 & 4YO Stakes, last stepped out in the Gr 3 Black Opal when he was a 2YO and he won that. He was bought as a stallion prospect and has already done enough to warrant a shot at stud.
The next three months will decide his worth and where he will stand.
Meanwhile, Candy Pants could very well visit him one day!
She has enough talent to run well in race 2.
Surely if they did produce a baby it would have to be called JAWBREAKER.
Good luck to them both this afternoon.
