Dundeel has sired the Gr.1 winner Truly Great and ten other stakes winners line-bred to Sir Tristram (4 X 6 here), sire of his high achieving dam sire Zabeel.
Lot 109 bay colt Snitzel – Hot Augusta (Zabeel)
41 of the Champion Sire Snitzel’s 55 runners out of mares by the legendary Zabeel are winners with six being stakes winners. That is a 10.9% stakes winner ratio which is higher than Snitzel’s overall stakes winner strike rate. Eleven of his Gr.1 winners are line-bred to Sir Ivor (6 X 4 here) whilst four boast a cross of Storm Bird (4 X 5 here). This colt is a member of the internationally prolific Myrtlewood family – one which has produced the outstanding stallions Mr Prospector, Seattle Slew and Lomond.
Lot 216 bay colt Maurice – Muntaseera (I Am Invincible)
Whilst Maurice’s overall winners-to-runners strike rate sits at 64.2%, his strike rate with mares carrying an Encosta de Lago (Muntaseera’s second dam sire) strain is 77.8%… 21 winners from 27 runners. Maurice is out of a mare by Carnegie, son of Sadler’s Wells whose full brother Fairy King is Encosta de Lago’s sire – the result here a 5 X 6 cross of the lovely mare Fairy Bridge. Maurice does even better with Redoute’s Choice (Muntaseera’s dam sire) – seven stakes winners amongst the 56 winners from 80 runners, including his best son Hitotsu. Also line-bred to Never Bend with a strain of his half-brother Bold Reason (the Kentucky Oaks heroine Lalun duplicated), this colt is a descendant of the influential Black Ray who has the great stallions Mill Reef and Blushing Groom amongst her descendants.
Lot 249 brown filly Alabama Express – Pair Of Heels (Adelaide)
Close up crosses of Danehill are not generally respected but the 3 X 3 duplication here comes through Redoute’s Choice and his daughter Little Chloe – noting that of Alabama Express’ first six runners bred this way (Danehill their second dam sire), five are winners including the stakes placed Karavas. Meanwhile his best runner – Treasurethe Moment – is out of a mare carrying a strain of Adelaide’s grandsire Sadler’s Wells whose full brother Fairy King is the sire of Alabama Express’ dam sire Encosta de Lago.
Lot 280 bay colt So You Think – Queen Of Diamonds (Savabeel)
Not many families carry the genetic strength of Eight Carat’s and this colt has as his dam, third dam and fourth dam stakes winner (the latter two Gr.1 winning) descendants of that great mare… Queen Of Diamonds, Tristalove and Diamond Lover (her daughter). The High Chaparral (sire of So You Think) line has had three stakes winners including the Gr.1 winner Hiyaam from this family. So You Think carries multiple strains (Nasrullah, Royal Charger, Aristophanes, Badruddin, Fair Trial, Mahmoud) of the Mumtaz Mahal/ Lady Josephine family from which Eight Carat hails. Five of the seven So You Think runners out of Savabeel mares are winners and he sired seven (including the Gr.1 gallopers Think It Over and Nimalee) stakes winners out of mares by Savabeel’s sire Zabeel – noting that Zabeel’s dam sire Nureyev is a 3/4 brother to HIgh Chaparral’s sire Sadler’s Wells.

Lot 361 chestnut colt Justify – Spirit Of Carbine (Danehill Dancer)
The stakes winner Legacies is bred on the same Justify/Danehill cross as this fellow who hails from the wonderful Red Lace family – one which has produced the big race winners Baguette, Cinder Bella, Sebring, Heirloom, Cabochon, Danglissa, The Quarterback and Spinning Hill. Justify is line-bred to the great Mr Prospector, member of the same Frizette family as Roan Rocket – dam sire of Spirit Of Carbine’s dam sire Rory’s Jester. Six of the first seven Justify runners out of a mare with a Rory’s Jester strain are winners.

What Frankel really loves is a cross of Miswaki (dam sire of his sire Galileo) and that horse is 4 X 5 here. Six of Frankel’s Gr.1 winners including Alpinista and Sir Delius boast a cross. This filly out of a Gr.3 winner (stats show they make the best broodmares!) is a descendant of the wonderful mare Anne de Bretagne who has 31 Gr.1 winners amongst her descendants – such as Ile de Bourbon, Quest For Fame, Falbrav, Azamour and Buena Vista.
