The Everest meeting at Randwick will be part of the World Pool for the first time, thanks to a partnership between Tabcorp and the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
Scheduled for October 14, the 10-race program is expected to significantly boost betting turnover, potentially by tens of millions of dollars.
This collaboration will merge Australian betting pools with those from international markets like Hong Kong, the UK, South Africa, Ireland, and the UAE, likely leading to the largest betting pools ever seen at a New South Wales race meeting.
Increased liquidity from the World Pool is anticipated to provide punters with more stable and potentially larger dividends.
The use of the World Pool is not new to Australian racing; it was previously implemented on Black Caviar Lightning Stakes day at Flemington on February 18, 2023, attracting over $50 million in the betting pool.
The inclusion of The Everest in the World Pool is expected to further enhance its global exposure, reinforcing its position as the world’s richest turf race with $20 million in prizemoney.
The World Pool will also be extended to other key race days, including Turnbull Stakes Day, Caulfield Cup Day, Cox Plate Day, and Victoria Derby Day.
