Legendary mare Winx is set to create headlines once more in 2026, with her highly anticipated Snitzel colt confirmed for sale at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale next autumn.
The first male foal from the 25-time Group 1 winner will headline the prestigious sale at Riverside Stables in Sydney, and expectations are already soaring.
Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch expressed his excitement about the colt’s inclusion in next year’s catalogue.
“To have the first male offspring of the mighty Winx coming to the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is an absolute thrill and something we’re hugely grateful to the ownership group for,’’ Hutch said.
“His presence at next year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is going to make for a captivating spectacle.”
Having viewed the colt on several occasions, Hutch believes he has all the hallmarks of a top-class racehorse and will present exceptionally well as a yearling.
“First and foremost, the objective of the ownership group has been to try and breed the best racehorse possible out of the mare, and I think this colt gives them genuine cause to be very excited,” he said.
“He is a handsome colt with great movement and an unflappable temperament. He’s a special sort of horse.”
Winx is etched in racing history as one of the sport’s all-time greats, with an unmatched sequence of 33 straight wins that includes four victories in the Cox Plate, a record unlikely to be equalled.
Her late sire Snitzel was crowned Australia’s Champion Stallion on four occasions and produced 23 Group 1 winners throughout a remarkable stud career.
Part-owner Debbie Kepitis also spoke highly of the colt, sharing her admiration for his presence and potential.
“A very handsome boy who has everything going for him,” Kepitis said.
“From the day he was born he’s been a very charismatic horse. He has been bred to win a Cox Plate and anyone who looks at him tells me that he has all the right physical characteristics to be an elite racehorse.”
