Australian Guineas favourite We Can Say It Now has been retired following her disappointing run in today’s Guineas.
We Can Say It Now was backed into favouritism on the strength of her win against older horses in the Group 1 Captain Cook Stakes (1600m) two starts ago.
She had also worked strongly with eventual winner Shamrocker earlier this week.
However, the Starcraft filly was one of the first beaten, finishing 14th.
Stewards reported a slower than normal recovery rate, but owner Paul Makin made the call to retire her following the race.
She is likely to visit Darley shuttle stallion Dubawi in the spring.
We Can Say It Now retires as the winner of four races from nine starts, amassing close to $250 000 in prizemoney.
