WA owner Bob Peters looks to have another star in the making after three-year-old Windstorm showed a blistering turn of foot to put pay to his rivals at Ascot.
Windstorm, ridden by William Pike, jumped as the $1.45 favourite in the class 3 race on Wednesday and after settling second last in the field of nine Pike had his work cut out as they entered the home straight.
Punters who took the short odds had a few nervous moments as Pike got onto the heels of another runner at the top of the straight, however once Windstorm was given clear air he quickly round up his rivals to win by a half-length from Rewrite The Stars.
The eye-catching win set social media alight and the TAB also took notice, moving Windstorm into $11 for the Group One Kingston Town Classic after opening up at $51.
