An offender has broken into the Flemington racecourse and poured oil onto the race track ahead of the running of the 2022 Melbourne Cup later this afternoon.
The incident was captured on camera and uploaded to social media.
The incident was allegedly carried out by a man who identifies as a ‘problem gambler’, who said the act was a protest against Victoria Racing Club and the ‘toxic’ racing industry.
