Tom Magnier has doubled down on his affinity for I Am Invincible mares, going to $2.8 million once again to secure Group II winner Estriella at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale — the same price he paid earlier for Tiz Invincible.

Also offered by trainer Ciaron Maher, Estriella might not have reached her full potential on the track, but her resume still boasts a Group II victory and over $1.4 million in earnings.
Originally purchased from Inglis Easter for $750,000 by Maher, the mare was raced by Kevin and Vikki Payne, who were rewarded handsomely for their investment with Friday night’s result.
Estriella hails from an elite pedigree, being out of Madrigals — a full sister to Coolmore stallion and Golden Slipper winner Pierro — a family already well known to Magnier and his team.
“Fair play to Ciaron Maher and the team. We saw her in the barn there two days ago, and, you know, the word ‘queen’ kind of comes to mind when you see a mare like her, but all the right people liked her and all the good judges were on her,” Magnier said.
“We’ve got some very good people that are coming in in these mares with us and they are great supporters of the farm.
“There’s an option for her to go back into training and see what she could do up in Queensland, before maybe coming back to the farm for the breeding season, but we’ll have a chat with everybody and a chat with Ciaron, but no decision has been made.”
