After being sacked by the Team Snowden yard, MOUNT FUJI (Snitzel – Ichihara) finally landed a race win today at Ipswich.
The one-time highlight colt because of his great looks, good pedigree and price tag as a baby, has now won at his 6th race start, taking his career earnings to $49,000.
After showing useful but not spectacular talent while trained at Randwick where he yielded two placings, he was sold fairly recently.
Heinrich Bloodstock purchased him for $75,000.
Which may prove a great buy.
Since joining Gillian Heinrichโs Gold Coast team, he has won $28,000 with the promise of a bit more to come as he won pretty easily today.
But where his value for the Heinrichโs could kick in is in the breeding barn.
He is a lovely specimen and his pedigree is first-rate. His mother, Ichihara won $584,000 in prize money from 6 wins and 4 placings.
She is by General Nediym.
Her first foal, OMAR has won 3 races and $116,000 in prize money. And like Mount Fuji seems to be improving with racing.
Given Mount Fuji is a stallion, if he can win say in town, which he looks as if he may, he would make into a bush stallion with a strong hope of throwing winners.
So that $75,000 gamble in buying him at an online sale recently, may prove a master stroke for Heinrich Bloodstock.
