Viviane will chase her maiden victory when she runs in the Neds Handicap at Caulfield.

Simon Zahra would like to see Jamie Kah adopt tactics on Viviane at Caulfield where the filly is allowed to run and not restrained.

Viviane will be Kah’s first ride at Caulfield on Saturday when the pair combine in the Neds Handicap (1100m).

Kah remains one win shy of cracking the magical 100 metropolitan wins for the season which is expected to happen on Saturday.

Viviane is coming off a disappointing sixth behind Jigsaw at Caulfield over 1100m on June 26.

Zahra, who trains the filly in partnership with his cousin Mathew Ellerton, said while the filly was a fraction disappointing, at the same time there were excuses for the filly’s defeat when ridden by Damian Lane.

“We think she might have swallowed her tongue the other day, so we’ve put a cross-over noseband on her,” Zahra said.

“We also think she’s a better filly if she’s allowed to stride, but she was restrained a bit last time.

“She looked the winner on the turn last time, but then punctured.

“She got in a good rhythm at Flemington the start before that and she was good there.”

Viviane has yet to win in three starts and will on Saturday be lining up for the third start of her second preparation.

Ellerton and Zahra thought enough of the filly to start her career in the Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield in January, finishing eighth to Dosh.

After a break, Viviane returned at Flemington on June 5, splitting Argentia and Invincible Caviar over 1100m before her last start display.

Viviane currently shares the second line of betting at $5 with Godolphin galloper Vianello with that two-year-old’s stablemate Zapateo the $2.90 favourite with TAB.
