Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have taken action following an investigation, leveling charges against licensed jockey John Robertson for contravening Australian Rules of Racing 115(C).
This pertains to his involvement in placing bets on an international thoroughbred horse race, a breach of jockey conduct regulations.
Under Australian Rules of Racing, jockeys are prohibited from betting or facilitating bets on thoroughbred races globally.
The charges specify that on July 2, 2023, Mr. Robertson placed two bets, or facilitated their placement, through his Rob Waterhouse Bookmakers account.
The bets, both amounting to $10, were for Viceroy to win and place in the Class 2 Handicap race held in Seoul, South Korea, covering a 1200-meter distance.
The matter is slated to be heard before the Victorian Racing Tribunal, with a hearing date yet to be determined.
RV Stewards duly notified Mr. Robertson of the charges against him.
