Victorian racing clubs are eagerly awaiting Daniel Andrews’ roadmap on Sunday for the states transition out of Stage 4 and Stage 3 restrictions.
Daniel Andrews is set to announce a road map for the state to come out of tough coronavirus restrictions on Sunday which will ultimately affect if there will be crowds during the Spring racing carnival in Melbourne.
VRC Chairman Amanda Elliott is hopeful we will still see crows during Melbourne Cup week although it may not be the numbers the club was hoping for prior to Wave 2.
“Before Stage 4 came in I was very optimistic we could have up to 40,000 people. Obviously, Stage 4 put a huge spanner in the works there and made it less likely to have those sort of numbers,” VRC Chairman Amanda Elliott told RSN927.
“I think Sunday when Dan Andrews tells us what the road map is, is going to be a very important day for all of us.
“We’ve lived with such uncertainty for so long, we’ve got all the scenarios ready to go. I think we will have some people (on course), but it won’t be as many as I originally thought.”
