The current Victoria Derby favourite Royal Symphony will not line-up in Saturday’s race after the horse pulled up poorly following his fourth placed finish in the Cox Plate.
Following the Cox Plate the Tony McEvoy trained Royal Symphony was installed as the $4.50 favourite for Saturday’s Derby although he will not take his spot in the race and will instead head to the paddock.
Tony McEvoy has stated that Damien Oliver’s ride on Happy Clapper in the Cox Plate is the reason why Royal Symphony has been ruled out of the race as the horse pulled up battered and bruised due to Happy Clapper continuously hitting/bumping his horse.
Breaking story – Tony McEvoy tells me "bullying" from Damien Oliver led to Royal Symphony being battered and bruised and out of Vic Derby
