Golden Slipper winner Vancouver and Group One winning mare First Seal have both been ruled out for the rest of the spring.
Trainer Gai Waterhouse told stewards on Tuesday, Vancouver would be spelled and not press ahead to the Caulfield Guineas for which he was one of the favourites.
The valuable colt had already been taken out of Saturday’s Golden Rose after a lacklustre barrier trial last week.
First Seal’s spring campaign failed to get off the ground with a recurring foot problem forcing her to miss her first two scheduled starts.
The mare had been the second favourite for the next month’s Epsom Handicap.
