A heavy winter workload on the course proper at the Cranbourne Training Complex has prompted changes in scheduled trials.
An important set of trials at the complex on Monday, when Group One winners Catchy and I Am A Star were due to step out, have been rescheduled while a set of jumps trials the following week have been transferred to another venue.
The course proper at the training centre has been used throughout the winter to compensate for works being carried out to upgrade drainage on the inside grass track at the complex.
Following a track inspection, Racing Victoria and the Cranbourne Turf Club, decided on a venue change for Monday’s trials.
A set of 11 trials will be held at Moe on Monday while 1000m and 1200m trials, exclusively for three-year-olds rated 70 and above and four-year-olds and older rated 80 or above, have been programmed for the Cranbourne racecourse the following day.
Both RV and the Cranbourne Turf Club will monitor the state of the turf training tracks before deciding if trials on August 21 go ahead.
The jumps trials on August 14 have been transferred to Ballarat but restricted to horses seeking qualification or for those entered in the J J Houlahan Hurdle (3200m) or Grand National Steeplechase (4500m) on August 20.
