Stuart Kendrick trained Tarzan will this Sunday step out in the Pro Liquor Open Handicap over 1000m after a disappointing performance, running 8th in the listed Bribie Handicap at Doomben over 1050m on the 16th of December.
It was the first loss for Tarzan since the 30th of September, with the 5-year-old gelding by Drumbeats recording 3 consecutive victories at the Sunshine Coast and Doomben, breaking the Sunshine Coast track record for 1000m in the process.
Tarzan recorded a sizzling 0:56.13 for 1000m when defeating Ringoβs a Rockstar and Lucky Meteor on the 29th of October, coming home in 33 seconds flat for the final 600m to score a big win.
A real sectional star, the current track record holder was lightning when tried at Doomben the following weekend where he ran better then a 10 second split (9.88) over 1050 and reaching a top speed of 72.87 kp/h.
Tarzan will get back to his preferred distance this weekend and will face a lesser company, coming up against the likes of Pinch River, Havasay and Colinelle last time out. He is again drawn perfectly and in small field of 8 should go forward and take a lot of catching, however carrying 3 more kilos then his record breaking run.
The 5-year-old will look to take his total win tally to 8 from 20 starts on Sunday, having earned a total of $153,200 so far. Jockey Luke Tarrant will ride having been successful on him on the 4th of November.
