Savvy Hallie has become the sixth confirmed runner in the $20 million Everest, with Mulberry Racing selecting the Brad Widdup-trained mare for the October 17 feature at Randwick.
Her second to Tempted in Saturday’s Premiere Stakes secured the slot, following a fast-time victory in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes a month earlier.
Widdup said she raced 3kg above her Sheraco-winning weight following a slight setback and expected further improvement.
“Savvy Hallie has come through Saturday really well, I couldn’t be happier with how she has pulled up from that race,” Widdup said.
The mare also pushed Tempted to a nose in March’s Group 1 Surround Stakes.
TAB has Savvy Hallie at $51 for The Everest, behind defending champion Ka Ying Rising at $1.30 and Tempted at $6.
Her selection gives Widdup another opportunity in the race after Jedibeel finished 11th last year.
