Star colts Tassort and The Autumn Sun will go to Rosehill with the weight of expectation in their respective comeback races.

The Godolphin-owned Tassort contests the Group Two Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) with the Chris Waller-trained The Autumn Sun to run in the Group Two Hobartville Stakes (1400m).

Tassort is the favourite for the $3.5 million Golden Slipper while The Autumn Sun heads markets for the Randwick Guineas, Doncaster Mile and the Cox Plate in October with both odds-on for their upcoming assignments.

Tassort has been the Slipper favourite since his winning debut in November and will be having his second start on Saturday.

The Autumn Sun will be going to the races for the seventh time with a record of five wins, three at Group One level, and a third.

John Messara has bought into The Autumn Sun who will stand at his Arrowfield Stud, perhaps as soon as the next breeding season.

The colt has had two barrier trials leading into his first start since his Caulfield Guineas win running seventh and fourth, efforts which have pleased his trainer Chris Waller but his most recent last week barely received a pass mark from trial watchers although he was held up as he was making a move.

“I think he has come back well,” Waller said.

“We don’t put our horses under pressure in trials. It is race day that counts.”

There were nine entries taken on Monday for the Hobartville with The Autumn Sun rated 100 compared to the next best, the Kris Lees-trained Gem Song, who is on 88 after his last-start win in the Group Three Eskimo Prince Stakes.

The Gary Portelli-trained Time To Reign and McLaren, from the Peter and Paul Snowden stable, are the others in the Silver Slipper entries to have won races.

Among the older horses, the entries are higher with 18 for the Group Two Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) for mares and 21 for the Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m).
