Tent Busuttin is exuding confidence regarding Tagaloa's prospects in the Caulfield Guineas

Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young have already hit the Group One scoreboard this spring and they believe they’re in a good position to do so again in the Caulfield Guineas with Tagaloa.

Busuttin is exuding confidence regarding Tagaloa’s prospects in the 1600 metre feature on Saturday after his ideal draw in barrier three.

The stable was successful last Saturday with Mirage Dancer in the Metropolitan Handicap at Randwick and will also have a pair of three-year-olds, Wertheimer and Albarado, chasing a Group One win at the same track in the Spring Champion Stakes.

“Tagaloa’s had no luck in his two runs this time in,” Busuttin said.

“I think he can jump beautifully and take up a position in the top four and then reel off the good sectionals he’s capable of doing. I’m confident he’s going to be hard to beat.

“Crosshaven will work across and we can take up a spot behind him and I can see him box seating.

“Those Sydney colts, Ole Kirk, Mo’unga and Kings Legacy are all very good horses but they go back and will be giving us a start and they will have to reel off unbelievable sectionals to beat us.”

Tagaloa, who earlier in the year won the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield, finished sixth at his last start in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.

“He was slowly away and then had to work for the entire race. He’s normally a good beginner so I’m not going to get too worried about that,” Busuttin said.

Tagaloa will be ridden for the first time by Craig Williams, who replaces Michael Walker.

Busuttin said if Tagaloa won the Caulfield Guineas he would run in the Cox Plate.
