Star stayer Surprise Baby will not be seen throughout the Autumn carnival after the horse sustained a leg injury.
Surprise Baby sustained an injury to his hock with the horse set to undergo further testing to figure out the severity but he will at least miss the Autumn carnival and has been removed from voting in the $5m All Star Mile where he was sitting in nineteenth place with close to 900 votes.
Paul Preusker’s stable broke the news on the Facebook saying:
Unfortunately Surprise Baby is out of the Autumn Carnival but most importantly we still have our brave warrior. He has an sustained an injury to his hock and further tests are being performed in the next couple of days to ascertain the next steps that will be taken. He is comfortable, safe and in good hands at the vet clinic. We thank everyone for their well wishes in advance.
Surprise Baby was luckless in the Feehan Stakes when resuming in the spring before two disappointing runs in the Turnbull Stakes and the Melbourne Cup where he finished thirteenth.
