South Australian star jockey Lachlan Neindorf has confirmed he will relocate to Victoria at the start of the new racing season. After enjoying another successful year in Adelaide, Neindorf revealed that the move had been in the pipeline for some time but he chose to keep it quiet until his plans were finalised.
“I kept it on a bit of a down low. I just wanted to sort a few things out. Obviously, I was focused on finishing the season in Adelaide off strongly,” Neindorf said. “But it was always on the back burner and it was something me and my manager spoke about.”
Neindorf secured his second career Group 1 win when Femminile claimed this season’s South Australian Derby, a success that helped spark his decision to head back to Victoria. The 23-year-old previously rode in Victoria as an apprentice between 2020 and 2022.
“Off the back of a second consecutive year Group 1, it probably just looks that little more appealing on the résumé,” he said.
Neindorf capped off his final season in Adelaide with 40 metropolitan winners, finishing third in the local premiership.
