Star jockey Mark Zahra has been booked to partner Thousand Guineas favourite Apocalyptic next Saturday.

Apocalyptic, a current $1.90 elect for the Caulfield Group 1, has returned in outstanding order this prep, capping it with a sizzling victory in the G1 Flight Stakes last weekend.

With Tommy Berry remaining in Sydney, owners MyRacehorse have turned to Zahra to take the reins in the Thousand Guineas.

The filly has already arrived in Melbourne and is slated to work at Caulfield on Tuesday morning.

MyRacehorse, which offers micro-shares, purchased Apocalyptic for $400,000 at the Magic Millions sales. More than 2000 owners are involved in the daughter of Extreme Choice, who was syndicated at $188 a share.

β€œWe have had success with imports, tried horses … but it hits different when you have a yearling from the Magic Million come out (and do what she has done). She was unlucky not to win as a2YO (and be undefeated),” MyRacehorse’s managing director Ben Willis said.

β€œIt’s important for our brand to appeal to our next gen of fans, to have flag bearers. It goes a long way to bring people into race and into the sport.

β€œShe’s been able to stand of her own four feet in the 3YO grade. We hope the journey is only just getting started.”
